    Harry D Thomson Memorial Scholarship
I felt encouraged to apply to this scholarship after reading its background, I am a very hardworking person who doesn't stop until my goals are reached. During the Covid shutdowns, I watched a lot of my classmates struggle to maintain good grades or even show up to online classes, I knew that this was not a habit I wanted to get into which is why I worked as hard as possible to make sure that my academic and personal life did not get brought down due to world events. I also felt encouraged because I attend Blackstone Valley tech, where I major in the Engineering and Robotics shop. Over the years, I've been introduced to many different engineering disciplines like mechanical, electrical, civil, and aerospace. I knew mechanical engineering was what I wanted to pursue since it has such a broad outcome. However, it wasn't until I went on a robotics trip to Disney in Florida that I realized that my ultimate dream job would be to engineer roller coasters and other amusement rides. To me, this career would be a perfect mix of the technical and mathematical side of engineering, as well as the fun side of entertainment and amusement rides. I know I will work as hard as I can to achieve this dream, and that this scholarship would greatly help. For school, I will need a lot of supplies like textbooks, notebooks, etc. My biggest fund will be put towards a good laptop that I can use for assignments, as well as for future endeavors. Laptops are very expensive, and I use a school-issued one which I have to give back before graduation. Having a fund set aside specifically for a laptop would be greatly beneficial to me, and I would greatly appreciate receiving this scholarship.
