Kerry Kennedy Life Is Good Scholarship
Dear Members of the Scholarship Committee,
I am writing to express my deep passion and commitment to pursuing a career in social work, a field that holds immense personal significance to me. Growing up in a home marked by trauma, I experienced firsthand the transformative power of a compassionate and dedicated social worker. It is my dream to become that guiding light for another child, to offer the same hope and support that I once received.
As a Mexican student from a family with limited financial means, I have faced numerous challenges on my educational journey. My mother, has been a single parent since I was ten years old. Although her English makes finding stable and well-paying jobs extremely difficult. Despite this, she has always worked tirelessly in low-paying jobs to provide for our family, and her sacrifices have instilled in me a strong work ethic and determination. To support my education, I have had to balance full-time studies with part-time work, often sacrificing personal time and enduring long hours to make ends meet.
Despite these hardships, my passion for social work has never wavered. I am fully engaged in my studies, driven by my deep desire to succeed in my career so that I can be there for families and help children not be scared of social workers and have families feel more safe with me by their side. My goal is to create a supportive and understanding environment where children feel safe and heard. I want to break the stigma around social work and show families that social workers can be trusted allies who are genuinely there to help. By succeeding in this field, I hope to make a positive impact on the lives of those who need it most, ensuring that no child feels alone or frightened when seeking support.
Receiving this scholarship would be a tremendous blessing, easing the financial burden and allowing me to focus more intently on my academic and professional growth. It would enable me to continue my education without the constant worry of how to afford basic necessities like school supplies and gas.
Thank you for considering my application. Your support would not only help me achieve my dreams but also empower me to give back to my community in a profound way. I am eager to dedicate my life to social work and to provide the same hope and guidance that once inspired me.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Guadalupe Verduzco
