Trades Make the World Go 'Round
I needed something that would keep us from living paycheck to paycheck. I chose HVAC/R because I needed to make a change in my life that would make my family some money. I put four trade professions in a hat and had my baby girl pull one out. It was "construction". I talked to an elder gentleman the landlord sends over to work on the house about my choice to do construction and I was looking to get an insight into the field. He says "That's not a bad choice but, if you want to make some real money HVAC is what you want to do." So far, making this decision has to be the best decision I've made in a while. My family has been saved by going to HVAC school. About two or three weeks after I started school we had a heatwave at the same time the air conditioner stopped working in my home. I told my teacher about my AC and he instantly diagnosed the problem, which allowed me to go home and get my air running again. I am very grateful for this opportunity and I don't want this to end because I can't afford to go to school. I love to work with my hands to create something to make people feel good. I'm hoping that I can teach my children this trade one day to stop the endless struggle to work a 9-5. I hope you consider me for this scholarship because I'm like wine I get better over time. In elementary school, I received C's, D's & F's. I even failed 6th grade. For some reason in high school, I was placed in honors classes. I graduated with B's, and C's. My first time in college I majored in mathematics. I did not finish, because I wanted to work full-time. I had a 3.5 GPA. Now 10+ years later I enrolled in HVAC. I Have all A's so far. Thank you for this opportunity.
