Hello, At Anaheim High School I am C.R.O.W.N president, G.O.L.D.’s activities commissioner, NHS’s commissioner of events, Bilingual Ambassador, and community liaison, as you can see most of my cabinet positions include finding ways to reach out and help my community. I have worked closely with individuals I look up to such as Supervisor Doug Chaffee and Board Trustee Al Jabbar who have given me a glimpse of the work it takes to make a difference in my community. I am an official Youth Representative for ACT which consists of collaborating among businesses, the community, and non-profit leaders addressing gaps in services for at-risk youth in Anaheim. I am the voice for the Anaheim youth and have emphasized mental health to get the help my peers are in desperate need of and access to meals for my community. In addition to being civically engaged, I am also part of a non-profit organization called We Rise Above. We Rise About focuses on educating students about sexual violence. As an ambassador, I have worked with my group on podcasts about sexual harassment in the workplace and how to deal with that situation with an experienced lawyer. As well as, attend workshops, survivor panels, and fundraise for sexual assault survival shelters. I have had friends open up to me about their sexual assault stories and I have always tried to be there for them, but never knew how I could help them which frustrated me. Now I can provide resources and support to those who need them. As the elections were approaching, I noticed that many of my community members felt discouraged in ways such as, reaching out to be educated about propositions in their ballots and finding locations to vote because they only understood Spanish. This motivated me to do phone banking solely in Spanish to reach as many Spanish speakers who didn't know much about candidates, propositions, and didn't know where to go for information. I loved to hear them tell me that because of my help they were going to vote and weren't as nervous to reach out to seek more information. I’m currently also an A.I.M.E. mentor. The program I'm in was created to help middle schoolers and incoming freshmen transition into high school. My job is to create presentations such as the importance of mental health, involvement in school programs, tips on time management, the advantages of taking AP courses, and more. As of right now, we are also working on providing these students with a safe and fun environment because of the isolation Covid-19 has created.

Hello, My name is Jasmen Martinez, current colonist and a future student at UCSD! I’m a dancer, activist, leader, and AP student at Anaheim High School. I live in an immigrant household with one sibling. She and I were raised by our grandmother (current age 94) and now I take care of her and am happy to do so. My parents have always worked very hard to raise us and all they expect from me is to attend college and have a good career. I not only want to have a career but to continue making a difference in my community. I hope to work in local government and one day be mayor so I could do my part in helping others.
