Wanting to be a first-generation college student is a unique and challenging journey, especially when you have always come from a low-income family. As a young female with a passion for art, I've always wanted to make an impact in the Art Industry. Despite the people telling me that I will never get anywhere with art, I believe in my abilities and dreams. Growing up in a big family with limited resources was tough but through all of it. It made me more determined to pursue what I love most, even if people don't believe in me, I do.
Before I went to High School, I was home-schooled for two years because of my anxiety with people. I was twelve at the time, and during that my family and I had serious water issues, making it hard to do simple things like showering, washing dishes, or even washing clothes. I dreaded the thought of going into a High school and other kids seeing me in poor conditions. However, once our water situation was resolved, my mother decided it was time to enroll me in a public high school. I was terrified and intimidated, but I still pursued what I loved most: art, drama, and music.
Throughout my high school journey, I made many friends and accomplished many things, like performing in several plays, singing, and creating art pieces for my school. Slowly, I began to see the world differently, and I realized that my passion for the art industry could be more than a hobby; It could be my future. So being the first in my family to go to college has shaped my inspirations and aspirations in many ways. It has influenced my perspective on education and the importance of following one's dreams. My family's struggles have taught me resilience and the value of hard work.
I've learned that success is not just about financial stability but also about personal fulfillment and making a difference in the world. I've pushed myself in my studies, knowing that education is the key to a better future. I took every opportunity to improve my skills and learn about the art industry. Each achievement has fueled my determination to prove that I can succeed in the art world, despite the obstacles. I want to use my art to inspire others, especially those who come from similar backgrounds.
I want to show them that it is possible to overcome challenges and achieve their dreams. Art has the power to change lives, and I am committed to using my talents to make a positive impact in the art industry.
In conclusion, being a first-generation college student has been a journey of self-discovery and growth. It has shaped my dreams and aspirations, influenced my perspective, and impacted my academic and personal growth. Despite the challenges, I am determined to pursue my passion for art and make a difference in the world. I believe in myself and my dreams, and I am ready to prove that I can succeed in the art industry, no matter what anyone says.
