The one thing in this world that I'm most passionate about would have to be my music and my songwriting. When I was 5, I was told by a recording studio engineer that I had the choice to create "music" or "art," and I wanted to create art. That's why my music and what I create mean so much to me.

As I sat there watching my sister record her song in the recording booth all I could think about was how bad I wanted to be where she was, what I would just give to be in that recording booth. So many emotions rushed through my 5-year-old head but all I knew was that this is what I was meant to be doing. I got up from where I was sitting after my sister had stopped recording and taped on the engineer with every limb in my body shaking he turned around and looked at me with a confused look on his face “You good” he asked I responded with a shaky tone in my voice “ye…s I was wondering could I record in the booth” he looked at me with a surprised look on his face “sure let me see what you got”, walking up to the booth with every ounce of excitement in me little did I know the moment I would hear myself ever recorded would be the moment I fell in love with music seeing the look on the engineers face when he heard me sing, so surprised that all that voice came out of such a little boy. As I walked out of the booth the engineer looked at me in disbelief, in total shock at what had just come out. “Wow…You are so talented, and that voice is going to take you places one day but you have to always remember you have the choice to create music or art use the gift you have to create art” he said with assurance in his voice and that stuck with me forever and part of the reason why I’m so passionate about my music and my song writing now.
As I got older what that engineer said really stuck with me and impacted how I create music today. Music is more than just something nice to listen to, more than just a nice beat. Music is knowledge, music is Power, Music is courage, Music is strength. There is a saying in Shakespeare's sonnet, and why I appreciate the power that music has today. “Music to hear, why hear’st thou music sadly? Sweets with sweets war not, joy delights in joy:” His apparent sadness while listening to music taught him a lesson. Music is concord and harmony, much like the happy household of father, child, and mother, as if they were separate strings in music that reverberate mutually. The fact that music is powerful enough to do that just justifies why I love music so much and why it’s so important to me. I had the choice to create “Music” or Art and I chose to create Art.
