Hi, I'm Gabrielle! I am so excited to be able to pursue my academic goals with scholarships from Bold.org.
I attend the University of Chicago and am majoring in Molecular Engineering and minoring in Materials and Soft Polymers Engineering. Other acadmeic interests include Computer Science, economics, history, and classics.
At UChicago, I am currently researching organic ionic plastic crystals and thia-Michael dynamic materials to eventually make a multi-functional material for energy storage and utilization in thermoelectrics. I also researched at Argonne National Lab where my research is applied to RenewCO2, a company designing processes to reduce CO2 emissions. I am driven to solve climate change and energy storage challenges with chemical engineering.
I'm extremely passionate about STEM developments and especially inspiring other young women and marginalized groups to get involved in STEM. I work as a tutor independently for elementary through college students and work at my local Mathnasium in Chicago. While I love to give back to the community, I work four jobs to make attending UChicago economically feasible.
I'm a co-president of the Society of Women Engineers chapter at UChicago. I've organzied study breaks and other events to unite young women stuyding STEM fields. This community is very important to me, and I aim to continue creating spaces where women feel inspired to pursue engineering.
I am an extremely motivated student and dedicated to my studies. Recieving scholarships from Bold.org would help make my dream of attending UChicago a feasible reality.
