FinalistBio
I am a doer. Whether it be through arts, volunteering, social justice, or academia, my passion is for making change. I am creative, intuitive, driven, and caring--and I hope to create a world embodying all of these qualities as well. My goal is to change the narrative surrounding marginalized identities and create a space of liberation and freedom. I have interests in multiple academic areas, including Sociology, Political Science, African American Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Public Health, and Public Policy. I encourage joy, in every sense. In any field I enter, I want to make joy and comfort accessible for individuals that have spent their entire lives fighting for justice. As Dr. Marta Moreno Vega said, “The fact that we exist is a miracle. . . it’s our responsibility to make sure that our people are not invisible, that our people are seen as agents of change, because we built this country. We built it!”
