Bio

Hi! My name is Chloé and I am a young brown artist creating art with representation to inspire people that look like me! I love anything creative, modeling, acting, graphic design, all of it! George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Dion Johnson and so many more black lives have been taken away too early due to police violence. Seeing the same events happen on the news or social media is very heartbreaking, especially to a black person because that could've been them or one of their family members. This brings stress, nerves, and even trauma into one's mind, affecting someone harder than others. This is why mental health care is a must for communities of color. Mental health care for the people of color community can benefit society in a huge way. For years the black/people of color community has been facing the struggles of being treated to be spoken to differently just because of the color of their skin. There is a mental health stigma, that not many would know about. Many people could be facing depression or anything of the sort and would refuse to see professional help because of this stigma. Along with the fact it might not be affordable to them. Colored communities can get mental health conditions the same way anyone else can. Trauma from the racism that still occurs can aid in these conditions. Giving these communities affordable health care would benefit society in a huge way. One would feel more secure and feel gratitude that something is finally changing for them in a positive way. Even just simply educating friends and family about the importance of taking care of yourself to seek help is okay! Overall being aware of what's going on around you and listen to what your body is telling you.

I created this still-life painting with my older brother in my heart and mind. My brother has been such an inspiration for me when it comes to health. He's constantly giving me advice and telling me new information about foods and lifestyles to benefit me. So, I created a still-life painting about baby bananas which are healthier than the man-made bananas that I eat.

"How can I express how I felt?" Yatora Yaguchi thought in the rising manga 'Blue Period' by Tsubasa Yamaguchi. Blue Period is a manga about Yatora awakening his joy of painting. For me, I've already discovered my joy of painting at a young age but was never consistent because I wanted immediate results. I wanted to be better than Picasso after one day. Wanted everything to be perfect. After reading the first volume of 'Blue Period' Yatora's character taught me art doesn't have to be perfect, and that art is a beautiful journey. I discovered that I was able to make conversations with my brushstrokes and show the world how I feel. One of the biggest lessons that I've learned and is pushing my art career further is that 'talent can only get you so far. It's the hard work and long hours of studying put into creating art.
