FinalistBio
I am a Nigerian-American student who attends King Drew Magnet High School of Medicine and Science. My parents immigrated to the United States to continue their education and enhance their quality of life following the Nigerian Civil War. As a result of this, I am adamant about pursuing higher education to have access to better opportunities. I would describe myself as ambitious, persistent, and compassionate. This is because I always strive for success, regardless of how difficult the task may be. I also enjoy helping others through community service, while focusing on the youth because they are the future. Attributable to my heart defect, I have made the decision to attend college and become a cardiac surgeon to help those who have the same or similar conditions as myself. As a surgeon, I will be working to eliminate racial disparities in health care.
