Bio

The face is the main focus on a person and everyone wants to put a good look forward. Having acne can tremendously affect a person’s self-confidence. As someone who struggled with skin issues in childhood, this resonates and I want to be a part of the change. When I was younger, I had these small bumps on my face and absolutely nothing worked to clear it. The dermatologist I visited said it was acne, but if it were acne it should’ve eventually gone away. After deep research, I suspected I had Pityrosporum folliculitis. Soon after, my dermatologist confirmed this and gave me the appropriate medicine. Research like I have done is needed to identify these newly developing skin, hair, and nail related diseases to treat them and cure them. Scholarships are vital in achieving my goals as it will financially allow me to receive my higher education and conduct ground-breaking research. I am prepared to meet any GPA or volunteering requirements as throughout my high school career, I’ve accumulated a 4.4 lasses and 8 Honors classes. In addition, I participated in multiple extracurriculars, such as color guard, theatre productions and tutoring for both AP Calculus and AP English Language students. Medicine is used to help people in a multitude of ways; My way of helping will be through dermatology: to clear people’s skin, remove tattoos, diagnose and treat skin cancer, and research on skin, hair and nail diseases, especially for people of color. I want to give back what was given to me.
