On September 30th, 2013, I moved to the United States at the age of seven. Many may not know but I do not live with my mom or dad. They are still in Haiti, I moved in with a family member that I used to call mom ever since I was five, ever since then she has been known as my mom, and her two daughters are my sisters. She has done a lot for me, but has she treated me like her own? No, but I can not complain. Why did I move to the United States you might ask. The answer is very complicated. I have three older brothers, and I'm my mom's only daughter. They wanted a better life for me. I can't blame them. All I have to do in return is to get a good job and help my family. Do not get me wrong. I love my family but I do not feel like I am the right person for this job. I feel as though that's a lot of pressure on my back, but I found myself due to the fact that I am here.
Now I am a sister, aunt, daughter, cousin, friend, and most importantly a mom. Not living without a mom for over 10 years is heartbreaking. I watched my cousins have Sweet 16, and I watched my cousins get their first car. While I had to work for. However, that is okay, at least I try to tell myself that. From that information, you would assume I am the one in the family who does not have what she wants. Back to my question, are you getting the love you deserve? My answer is no. Ever since I moved to the U.S. I lost my parents' love. However, all that changed. October 31, 2022, was the day I knew what true love is. I realized what it felt like to be loved or have someone who loved you no matter what. Due to the fact that I am very young, I was not ready for a child. God saw what I was missing. He gave me a beautiful baby boy named ELIAS. I can honestly say he changed my life for the better.
Overall, Elias has made me a better version of myself and that is the Fabiola I have been looking for to keep going towards your goals. My promise to Elias is to try my best to give him the life I wish I had and make sure he does not go through what I had to go through. Because of him, I felt love. Because of him, I do not want to run away. Instead, I have to stay in school and get a good job to give him the best life possible. This is to say no matter how happy someone puts on a smile everyone has a story, and this is mine, Fabiola.
This event of life has changed me in so many ways. It has changed me to be the best sister, aunt, daughter, cousin, and friend that I could be, and will soon be the best mom moving forward. My future goals are to finish school. Another is to make sure my family does not have to worry about anything. Lastly and most importantly, be the best mom that I could be and make sure my son feels as loved as I felt when he first came into my life.

Have you ever felt as if you were living someone’s life? Are you getting the love you deserve? If not, you may relate to this. Growing up I never knew how it felt to be loved, until one little human being changed my life. Now a little bit about myself. I’m 18 and was born in Haiti on February 25, 2005. Yes, I am a Pisces, a loving, caring, and very respectful person. However, if I do not get the same respect in return that would change.
