Hello! I am a 22-year-old first-generation college student. My parents came to The United States when I was five years old. That was the moment I became an immigrant and a daughter of immigrants. I lived here most of my childhood until my parents moved back to Mexico.
I left my home country once I turned eighteen to pursue my higher education and career here in California. Moving to a different country without my family, especially my siblings, has been challenging. I want my younger siblings to have someone to look up to, as they are my motivation to keep going.
Growing up and with my life hardships and experiences, I realized I wanted a forensics career. In my senior year of high school, I would get excited whenever I had my health class because my teacher was very passionate about her class, which made me want to learn more, leading me to like clinical laboratory. I aim to transfer to CSU Sacramento to earn my bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory. I also want to get my CLS license to work in forensic research.
I recently studied abroad in Italy for a semester. It made me open my eyes to new cultures and the desire to keep exploring the world. I am grateful that I had this opportunity. It has helped me see the world in a new light and appreciate it. It also made me realize that we, as North Americans, aren't that different from everyone else. I have always liked learning about the world around me, so this experience truly helped me a lot.
