Dashanna K. McNeil Memorial Scholarship
I am looking forward to opportunities in the nursing sector and to continuing my studies as a high school graduate. I selected nursing because it balances providing healthcare services with lifelong learning and offers the chance to significantly improve the lives of people and families who are in need of care. A rewarding profession in nursing offers numerous options and promotes innovative problem-solving. As a result, I have a special interest in pursuing a profession in pediatric nursing so that I may assist in providing patients and families with the care they need.
I wish to work as a nurse for a number of reasons. First of all, I have a strong feeling of sympathy for people and a desire to aid them. I've always been drawn to occupations that provide me the chance to improve the lives of others, and nursing presents a special chance to do so. As a nurse, I know that I will have the chance to have a significant influence on the lives of those around me, whether it is by bringing solace to a patient who is in agony, reassuring a worried family member, or simply listening to someone's worries.
I also want to be a nurse since I like dealing with people and have good communication skills. Since nurses often interact with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, nursing calls for good interpersonal skills. I am convinced that I will succeed in this element of the job since I think I can relate to individuals from all walks of life.
I'm currently debating my options with regard to the particular field of nursing that I want to pursue. I have always had a soft spot for kids and like working with them, so one area in nursing that interests me a lot is pediatric nursing. The fact that children often offer particular issues that call for creative solutions makes me believe that pediatric nursing would allow me to put my creativity and problem-solving abilities to use. I am eager to find out more about my possibilities, but I am open to researching other nursing specialties as well.
In general, I think that being a nurse is a fulfilling and difficult job that provides countless opportunities for both professional and personal growth. I can't wait to start my career as a nurse and improve the lives of those who are close to me.
Learner Math Lover Scholarship
Math, in my opinion, is a language for describing phenomena that occur in nature. Similar to the grammar of a language, the fundamental building blocks of math will typically always be present and make sense when combined. Math is a language to me, as well as a tool for solving puzzles. Breaking difficulties down into little building blocks enables me to learn the full problem if I can learn each of the building blocks. I like how most things that can be described in words can also be described mathematically. When I started high school and started to learn the different topics of math, like algebra, I loved it because it felt old and beautiful. There have been mathematicians who have been working on math for thousands of years, and it's all the same and doesn't change. It doesn't change in the way science changes. I enjoy solving math because it makes me feel like an artist. I enjoy it because I can see how different areas of math interact with one another. I don't like numbers. I don't care about calculating anything involving numbers. Because math is not all about numbers to me. I like it a lot because it isn't subjective. Math is about understanding something and seeing how many other things you can learn from that. I feel that if I have enough time, I can genuinely solve the problem, and I don't like doing things I'm not good at. In math, I can always start with just a few concepts and utilize them to prove something new. I can then use that proof to prove something else, and so on. Math is all about proving things with equations and formulas. I love math because it's the mystery of the problem-solving process for me. Having to go from a hunch to concrete answers and sometimes ending with a complete surprise
Omniwomyn Empowerment Scholarship
I didn't even know what that meant when I was told for the first time that I was a minority, which made me doubt my entire existence. I mistakenly believed it to be a term used to refer to foreigners and was relieved to be referred to as a minority until I looked it up and realized that wasn't the case. I became aware of the nonsense of the so-called "American is for equality" as a woman of color.
The number of times individuals respond to my name is beyond my ability to count. Because people flat-out refused to learn it or acknowledge that they were mistaken, I was compelled to westernize my name in order to be more appealing. I have to develop a whole personality to win people over so that I won't stand out. Even if I speak the same language as them, by changing the way I speak, people can understand me. When I say I'm from America in response to a question from a complete stranger, they chuckle and say, "Where are you actually from?" I felt bad because I don't match the mold of the stereotypical person I should be.
Since I didn't know how to interact with or get to know others, I made being a minority my personality. In an effort to maintain my identity, I started looking for like-minded individuals in Facebook groups. It was the one thing I could do that wouldn't make me change who I am. Therefore, cooking became my love. I started using cooking as a way to make small talk and try to establish connections with other people.
I could contribute to my family's catering business with the support of this scholarship. Which entails being the caterer during an event and includes making, serving, and cleaning up the food. I would use it to pay toward the cost of a bus that would facilitate transportation. I intend to grow the business and create an online platform after I finish my nursing program. The major thing I'm trying to change is the way we deliver our food which now requiring a person to order their food online from another state and have it delivered in one or two days while it is still in good shape.Food delivery will also be arranged online, and they will have to book online to discuss how they would like their service, not just demand for it.
Bold Financial Literacy Scholarship
"Money doesn't grow on trees" is a lesson I learned about personal finance. This proverb conveys to me the idea that money is earned via hard work and doesn't come naturally. And in order for you to acquire something, you had to work for it rather than hope it will come on demand.
I had enough for my essential needs to survive for around half of my life, but I didn't have enough for things like games, snacks, phones, or computers. As a little child of 8, I had to assist my mother in selling food on the street in order to buy something. When we visit my cousins, I've always wondered why we can't be as wealthy as they are, and every time I ask my mother, she always says, "Be content with what you have because you never know what tomorrow will be like."
I had a reputation for not being able to get the latest phones, books, or clothes until I was eleven years old. I subsequently found myself with the opportunity to travel out the country. It stayed with me Financially, I always remember to be grateful and to make sensible decisions when I receive something. I learned to be smart with my money and learn to save even when I didn't have any. Over the years, the advice has encouraged me to make an attempt to get what I want. It helped me remember how I started and how where I might end up.
