It is an honor to say that I am a 17 year old first generation Latina. My parents came to this nation as immigrants from El Salvador around the same age I am now. Their stories have taught me that anything is truly possible if one sets their mind to it. They have influenced me to live by that mindset, and has led me to achieving great things I believed I was never capable of. My preliminary life goal is to live a happy life. To live a happy life is a very broad of putting what I want in life, but it is my ultimate goal. Additionally, I aspire to become a physician associate in the future particularly in the dermatology field. I have a strong passion for the skin- the biology behind it, the maintenance of it, and how it's one of the largest organs of the human body. This is partially due to the mishaps I experienced during my childhood and teenage years. Despite the affliction it has brought into my life, I am grateful for this particular intrusion. Because of this, I also have a strong passion for mental health. Reasons like these give me insight on my liking for flexibility in a profession, which is why I chose to pursue the PA route over MD. My family’s cultural background has prematurely set them to be in a difficult position financially. As my sisters have broken this generational curse of struggling in the midst of poverty because they received a proper education, I long for the same; and to set that example for the next generations to come. Now that I am in the position they were once in, I will strive my hardest to make It financially possible.
