Bio

My passions lie in educating others about the effects of poor nutrition and preventative measures someone may take to help improve their life and live a healthy lifestyle. As a Dietitian, our career is important in today's society because of the overwhelming need for nutritional education and assistance in health care due to the lack of knowledge individuals have towards nutritional science. Nutritional science is involved in identifying how certain diseases, conditions, or problems are caused by dietary factors, such as malnutrition, metabolic diseases, etc. I want to promote better nutrition by speaking to groups or individuals about diet, nutrition, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases. I feel that this is my part in making the world a better place for everyone. My ultimate goal is to obtain my Ph.D. in Nutritional Science with a focus in clinical nutrition at Texas Tech University. I plan to use the education and skills gained during the program to capitalize on research-related opportunities and apply them to my patients. I learned through my mentors how utilizing your patient population for interventional research could open opportunities in making a difference for the future of dietitians. I want to apply sound evidence-based research and practices collaboratively with other medical professionals, striving to create a positive impact and profound effect on a patient’s health. Finally, I would like to contribute to current and future research in both advancing the dietitian profession, while gaining greater credibility amongst peers and society.
