Bio

Hello! My name is Erynne Jackson and I am an MPH Epidemiology candidate at Columbia University. I am passionate about using epidemiological methods to explore pathways between social determinants of health and adverse health outcomes. My overall goal is to improve the health and lives of disadvantaged populations in the United States and globally. I believe that equitable access to healthcare is essential for everyone to live long, healthy lives. My public health journey began at Planned Parenthood and at the University of California, Irvine. As the Lead Health Educator, I developed and hosted educational programs on crucial topics, such as STIs/STDs, birth control, pregnancy, cancer prevention, and so much more. I also honed my administrative skills as an office assistant, collaborating with program managers to facilitate campuswide health education programs. My experience as a health educator influenced my desire to continue my public health education at Columbia University. After finishing my MPH, I plan to to enroll in an MD/PhD program. My dream is to work in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to inform health policy. When I am not immersed in my studies, you can find me reading, writing, running, or baking. All hobbies that allow me to spend quality time with my loved ones.
