Future
Hi my name is Erieana Nickens. I grew up in Detroit Michigan. I’m 17 years old and I’m very excited for my future. My life consists of determination, hard work, and understanding. In this essay hopefully you’ll learn a few things about me. Every stranger has a story to tell and a journey to complete.
From preschool through about 7th grade I’ve always been an A student. In 8th grade I started going through depression on and off. Then my grades started to drift away from my hands like a ship on the sea. It was extremely difficult to maintain my mental health and grades all at once. Then in 11th grade everything changed.
I went to summer school the summer before going into 11th grade and I got my mental health up and got a 3.7 gpa. In my 11th grade year I maintained a 4.0 gpa. Now I’m in school the summer before 12th grade and making up for my failures. I learned from my mistakes. I believe I can overcome whatever is thrown at me.
I’m doing very well in all my classes at the moment. I look forward to seeing nothing less than a 3.7 on this summer report card. I am very proud of myself. If my past self could see me now she would be so proud and a little shocked I got through it. Hard work truly pays off.
I’m thankful that I never gave up. I had a lot of personal growth. Rather than dwelling on the past I moved forward and focused on not only where I was at but where I wanted to be. Most importantly I figured out who I was. I am Erieana Nickens and I will graduate high school early. I will go to my dream college. I will attend med school. Most importantly I will become a pediatrician.
Growing up I always wanted to become a lawyer. After years of figuring out who I was, I figured out who I wanted to be. As a young child I was always in the hospital for weeks at a time. I spent most of my childhood in a hospital. Being there made me so sad and exhausted.
I was in the care of many doctors and nurses, most of them weren’t very kind hearted. One day I met a nurse and she made my hospital stay so much better. It brought me happiness and joy. When I noticed I wanted to be in the medical field I remembered how she treated me.
I love children and it would be an amazing experience to give them the joy she gave me. Instead of a nurse I chose to become a pediatrician because I felt it would suit me better but things may change. I still will continue to grow so my mind might change. All I know for sure is that I want to be in the pediatric field. Give children the experience they deserve in a difficult situation like that.
After high school I will accomplish so much. I am very passionate about my present and future. I am beyond dedicated and nothing will ever hold me back again. In sickness or in health physically or mentally I will always overcome my obstacles.
The lesson I learned from this is it’s ok to fail. As long as you get up and try again. Learn from your mistakes. Push yourself to achieve accomplishments you never thought you would. “As long as you have faith in yourself, anything is achievable”
