      Book Lovers Scholarship
If I could have everyone read one book, it would be The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. The book may be old and outdated to some, but I believe it is a great literary work that all people should experience at least once in their life. It is a short story that does not take very long to read. It uses terms that would be easy for most people to understand. It is also an incredibly prominent figure in literature that has affected many writers and readers for hundreds of years after the book's release. Beyond the simplicity that makes it easy to understand for all, the book also has an incredibly deep plot and theme. Behind its supernatural themes and heavy dialogue, there is an underlying theme of love and grieving that I believe many people would be able to relate to and understand on a deeper level. It also has made the word "Nevermore" iconic and a symbol of permanent loss. Those are themes that I love and believe most others would find enjoyable to read about. Beyond the simple, but powerful structure of the book and the deeper meaning it holds, I believe The Raven is a story that everyone should experience even once if they enjoy literature. Even if a person doesn't care for the deeper themes or the simple yet effective rhyme scheme used by Poe, it can also be enjoyed as a simple story about a person getting angry at a raven. While that may not be how the story was intended to be read, it also works incredibly well that way. Overall, The Raven in an incredible book that everyone should read at least once in their life.

STEM subjects have always been the most interesting subjects for me, whether it's been in school or in daily life. I've always enjoyed learning about different parts of STEM. The most notable to me has been designing and publishing apps in my Digital Technology classes. These apps have been more useful to me than any regular assignment, and creating these apps has helped me realize how important apps have become to most people. I plan to use apps to make a positive impact on all people in the world. App technology is one of the most prominent forms of technology in the world today. Almost anyone with a personal device can access and use a wide variety of apps that do various tasks. They can be used to connect with others from any distance or get items delivered to a person with the click of a finger. What if this accessibility was used to better the world for all people? That is what I plan to do. I plan to use apps and their accessibility to help all people. Many people in the world need to be able to access special services or products but struggle to acquire what they need. I plan to create and run apps that allow the world to be a more inclusive and accessible place for all people. My current ideas include apps that allow people who require special medication to be delivered to them quickly and safely. This makes it easier for them to get life-saving medication in events where they are unable to move or leave their homes. Another idea is an app that summons emergency services at the touch of a button. This allows people in emergencies to call for help, even if they have no phone service or are unable to make a call for any reason. These ideas are only the tip of the iceberg as there are many more opportunities for apps to better the standard of living for everyone. App technology has unlimited potential. I plan to use that unlimited potential to impact the world for the better and make it easy for people to live and connect. I have many different ideas of ways to implement and use them in my STEM career. As a future software engineer, this is the best way for me to impact the world and I will do my best to help those in need in this way.
