My name is Ene Ochonu, and I am a high school graduate and incoming freshman at the University of Chicago. I plan on majoring in neuroscience, and minoring in French and Spanish. Advocacy and volunteering are things that I am passionate about, and they drive me to improve my community, along with helping others around me.
Throughout high school I participated in extracurriculars such as the Mayor's Youth Council, the Vanderbilt/TSU/Meharry Cancer Research Program, and served as secretary on the Spanish Honors Society. Through these opportunities I learned valuable skills and became knowledgeable about different problems, professions, and cultures. I hope to bring this knowledge with me to college.
Scholarships will allow me to pursue an undergraduate degree without debt, and I plan on using my undergraduate degree to help marginalized and low income communities. I plan on becoming a physician, and wherever I end up, I want to continue to be involved in my community and aid others.
