I think that my personal drive to do better for myself and my daughter is what has pushed me this far. I never wanted to go to college until I became a single mother of a child who depended on me for everything, It wasn't until I moved from Florida to Idaho with her I realized just how important school was going to be if I wanted to independently raise her and never have to beg for help. I want to be a role model to her and show her that anyone can push themselves to greatness. I am passionate about nursing and I want to be involved with helping the women and men of my community live a healthier lifestyle.

I have so many people in my life that are nurses, but that's just the tip of what has motivated me to pursue nursing, I have worked in the nursing homes of my town and seen how badly we need good nurses that care for these elderly residents. I chose to get my CNA first which started me on my nursing path. I also do this for my 6-year-old daughter who looks up to me as a role model. I am a single mother going to school full time on top of working to pay my bills and taking care of her! I want to show her that you can do anything as long as you have the willpower and motivation!
I worked through covid in a long-term care facility as a CNA and I went through so much death and sadness in that period. I learned valuable lessons with my residents and learned how strong I can be in times of despair. There were so many employees that left when covid hit our facility and chose to not work in the healthcare field anymore, I was shocked they chose this because I felt the complete opposite of that. I was inspired to start nursing school shortly after. I wanted to make an impact on patient care. I wanted to show that I can make it in my life independently for my daughter I knew that nursing was a great field to go into.
I plan to graduate in a year with my RN and do my BSN online afterward. I want to work in the ER of the hospital and possibly do travel nursing as well, I love the different experiences you can get from traveling and the variety of cultures you see as well. I love the different cases you see in the ER and no day or hour is the same when you are there. I love working with the other nurses and doctors and getting to learn from their work experiences/wisdom. I have to push through nursing school to become the best version of myself and an even better mother to my daughter. I am thankful for the opportunity and the support of my friends and family to have made it this far in school. I want to be able to focus on my studies instead of stressing over how I will be paying my bills every month.
