I first move to the United States from Mexico at 18 years old and starting college in the city of San Diego, since it was the closest to Tijuana, my hometown. Nevertheless, much of my plans had to come to a halt: from my father having several ailments due to his life-long work in the construction field, to my mother being diagnosed with breast cancer, my student life had to come to a pause in 2013 so I could enter the workforce and help support my family. Those years of medial struggle with my parents left a toll in a way that I saw life to the point where I felt I wasn’t taking care of myself emotionally, I felt desperate and extremely uncomfortable with the place where I was, so I took the biggest bet I’ve ever had and move to a place where I could start fresh, that place was the city of Reno, NV.
I was able to find a job in a local business called “Damon Industries”. The Damon family has been very welcoming and supportive to me by allowing me to learn about their company in every aspect I’ve wanted: from food safety to Industrial machinery, this company has truly adopted me as one of their own, and now, after four years of hard work and learning I’ve proven myself to have the skills necessary to become an industrial maintenance mechanic and serve as Head of Maintenance for the company, a position I hold to this day.
My goals are to become a mechanical engineer, and hopefully have the change of Mastering in Automation and Robotics, hopefully reducing the cases of people with ailments caused by extensive physical demands in the workplace.

Bold Simple Pleasures Scholarship
A walk in the river with my daughter is always the best way to finish a weekend: walk in the river park in downtown, getting a boba tea on the summer, or a hot beverage in winter, playing with my daughter in the park with her RC cars, or a soccer ball, maybe have a pizza at the park, there is no better way to be happy for me.
Bold Technology Matters Scholarship
Wireless charging has been a fascinating topic to me ever since the first commercially available wireless charger hit the market, this technology has given us the potential to start developing uses such as wireless EV charging, or wireless charging towers, concepts that could one day improve our lifestyles significantly.

I Consider Nikola Tesla to be my favorite scientist and inventor by far, basically giving birth to the modern world and give way to technology as we know it.
From the AC motor to the alternate current system we know and use today, Tesla was the father of modern technology, being the first individual to have successfully experimented with modern technologies such as wireless electricity, Tesla's ideas and experiments showed us the possibilities science had for the modern civilization.
