WinnerOne problem that I have always been passionate about finding small ways to solve global warming. This problem has been something that I have been searching for since I was in middle school. It started in middle school when I needed to do a project for my English class and I decided to research global warming, Which for a young 6th grader was something that took a little bit to wrap my head around the idea. From this project every time I had to do a big research project it was something environmental. I started with trying to understand global warming, researching renewable energy resources, to looking into the causes of global warming from a pinpoint view. In my writing and research class, I was tasked with writing papers about a problem that my future career would face. At this point, I spend a full semester researching waste in landfills. Through these papers, I would find myself wanting to be the person to lead a revolution. I wanted to be the person who could change the way that humans create pollution. I know that if I do not try to make the change that there are not many people who will.
This idea that if I don't make the change nobody will is one thing that inspires me every day to want to be the leader of the revolution. While I was in my early years of middle school, I did not know what this buildup of passion was going to be used for. All I knew what that I wanted to make a change. During my freshman year of high school, I learn that there was a new program called Environmental Engineering. This program could put together my passion for the environment and my skill of critical thinking into a major.
With a major in environmental engineering, I can find ways to make a change to the effects that we are facing on our planet. While I don't know the exact way to solve this large problem now, in a few years with a better understanding of these subjects I can use them to start designing ways to solve problems from landfills. What I do know and understand is that landfills create methane gas which leaks out and then adds to the greenhouse gas effect and causes the temperatures of the earth to warm. The small problem of waste in landfills creates so many problems for people and animals on earth.
These problems that all living creatures on earth face are what inspire me to want to lead the change. It is throughout many years of work that I finally understand my role in leading the change to environmental problems.
