My thoughts on the Ode To Millennials-Gen Z Text are that older generations have left all of these global problems for Gen Z and future generations to try to fix. Global warming for example is a major issue in today's society because past generations put too much pollution into the atmosphere. These global issues that we are now trying to solve could have been prevented in the first place if we had known that it would become a major issue. When we first started the industrial revolution we could have tried to find alternative renewable resources for energy. If we had cars may all be electric today. Plastic and pollution are also major issues we need to work to resolve that were created by others. To fix the plastic issue we would need to reduce, reuse and recycle but even if everyone recycled all recyclable materials I still don't think that would be enough to fix the waste epidemic. I think we would also have to find a way to get rid of our current waste without dumping it somewhere else. I think we could find a way to at least reduce the amount of waste if we can't entirely get rid of it. Maybe we can still stop these issues or maybe we have done too little too late.
      Book Lovers Scholarship
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven! the book shows a love story between two teenagers fighting suicidal tendencies and thoughts, one is fighting to live for the other while the other wants to die for the first. they bond over meeting each other at the top of a bell tower about to jump! I would choose this book because it shows that sometimes you can tell someone isn't doing well while other times they hide it with a smile and fake it till they make it out. it really tells the story of how you never know what someone is going through. this book flips perspective throughout its told through the perspectives of Finch and Violet. Violet is a popular girl who is under a lot of pressure to be perfect since her sister died in a car accident a while back. Finch is an outcast who tries to look at the bright sides of things but struggles. these to truly bond over a history project where they are told to travel to different parts of the state to study. To not spoil the rest of the book or the ending I think this book shows you should be kind to everyone because you have no idea what's going on in their head or in their life you only know one piece of the story the piece you are told or shown. This book put a new perspective on my life when I finished it I was completely moved and I think everyone should be able to experience at least one book like that. not everyone will enjoy the same book even one that has meaning as long as they read at least one moving book that changes their perspective in a positive light in this gross world it doesn't matter what that book may be.

I lost my father in a very tragic bus accident when I was seven. My father was not the greatest and had done a lot of bad things that I didn’t realize at the time. He was a drug addict and had severe mental illness and had physically hurt my mother on several occasions and had stolen many of our cars and blown them up. He also stole money and was in and out of jail constantly. When he died it hurt a lot and even with all the wrongs a death in the family will always hurt even if they couldn’t show you their love and affection. I know that if drugs hadn't taken him over he may have been a better person. His actions alone have inspired me to be better than he ever was. his death didn't immediately have an impact on how I look at the world but now I have realized that in order to better my life sometimes it's better to pretend he never existed. this power of not worrying about where he is or why he's not home was difficult for me at seven but now inspires me to become a registered nurse just like my mom was before her medical conditions stopped her from being able to work so I want to do what they were both unable to do and have a successful career in nursing even through setbacks.

I watch gaming streams on Twitch in my free time. My personal favorite streams are from the DreamSMP in the fandom and forums for the fans there is a lot of arguing and use attacks that are very unacceptable to the real world like the use of derogatory slurs and very hateful language. These people also attack the content creators themselves leading some fans to harm themselves in ways that could result in death or fear of people in the world around them such as the development of social anxiety or depression. This behavior completely disregards the accepted social norms by cyberbullying people because their favorite thing to do is watch some Minecraft streamers. I think this has a huge effect on how we treat each other in the outside world by changing our attitudes and our perspectives of others. Since we can hide behind a screen and say whatever we want with no repercussions we are more likely to say something rude or disrespectful. Since people can hide behind a username of brickbread95 and a Tacocat profile picture they feel like they can become a different person and treat people differently with these thoughts that may have stayed in our heads previously. We also feel as a society that because we didn't say the hateful thing we can share it with other people and laugh. But if the comment was about weight and was said in a coffee shop in an offensive way as comment was intended someone would step up and say something because it's wrong but if it's on the internet you are told to get over yourself. Even tho words and actions are more hurtful than any weapon could ever be. Words can kill just like a weapon. People don't think about how their comment could affect the other person that content creator could be going through a really rough patch mentally and receive a comment about a pile of laundry they can't physically bring themself to do and then end up in a mental hospital. As students, the texts I receive and comments on social media posts are so different from what the appropriate real-world response would be. When I have been arguing with someone on the internet like a friend or acquaintance I'm always terrified to see them in person because I don't know if their entire attitude will be completely different because of the social norms online versus in person. The entire difference between the arguments and positive response is so extremely different it's scary.
