At eight months old, I lost my grandmother to diabetes. She was the closest relative to my father, so it was a tragic loss. However, when my grandmother on my mother's side and two of my closest aunts got diagnosed with diabetes, I figured things needed to change.
I couldn't bear losing someone from a disease again so, in the near future, I want to put my diligent efforts into focusing on helping others and moving towards a better society. Whether I will be a part of the industrious health industry or coming up with innovations to optimistically improve lives, I'll be delighted knowing I am making a difference in the world. I could contribute to solving critical issues like going against cancer and diabetes, fighting for change targeting a safer and healthier community, and reducing escalating environmental damage harming precious life on earth. Unfortunately, there seems to be a never-ending list of issues that plague survival, but I am making it my primary goal to shorten that obnoxious list. By doing so, I can leave a world that flourishes and prospers for the following generations.
I believe I am a fine candidate because the scholarship money won't go to waste if I am hypothetically rewarded it. My goal of attending college to pursue a health major (preferably in California to remain close to my family) and taking classes at a medical school will be feasible with that money. As expressed, I am ambitious to turn my desired future into a reality and this financial help will smooth out my obstacle-filled path to make it possible for me to achieve my long-term goals.

I acted as a front desk receptionist at two jobs. I made appointments for customers and communicated with others on the phone. Moreover, I helped customers when they came up to me with questions when they weren't certain of something.

The infamous Marie Curie, who predominantly researched radiology, is a physicist and chemist. My fascination in Curie is derived from the fact that she was a nineteenth/twentieth century female scientist and encouraged other women who plan on pursuing scientific fields. Some of the impressive achievements she's known for are: being the first female to receive both one and two nobel prizes, being the first woman to have a daughter that won a nobel prize, and making remarkable scientific contributions used for treating medical conditions. Nonetheless, although she was very successful, Curie proved elaborate labs aren't necessary when you stay committed and diligent towards your goals. Therefore, Marie Curie is ranked my favorite scientist because she inspires me to major in STEM, striving to improve people's lives with my work.
