Since the start of my high school career I knew I would want my future career to be something within the cosmetology field. Before entering my junior year I made sure to apply for the trade school my high school provides for us to take cosmetology and I started my cosmetology education junior year. I am now a senior about to hit my 1,000 hours just before I graduate and I cannot be any more excited, this means I can now go on to the next step with getting my license to have a career in this field. I have learned so much from my teachers and I believe this is the best education I could have gotten for this field. Why do I want a career in this field so badly? I want to be the reason people feel good about their appearance. All I ever want for anyone I come in contact with is to make sure they feel confident in their own skin and if they do not feel that way now I would like to help them get close to their goal of having the confidence to wear the appearance they have. I believe it is so okay to not start off confident with your looks, no one is ever perfect. We strive on the daily to make sure we look good no matter what. I want to be the reason people smile when they look at themselves in the mirror and they think this is who I am. I have always had a passion for beauty mainly hair and makeup and I would either like to be working in a salon renting or owning my own place or even having my own traveling business where I would have a team to do special events like weddings. In order to help guide these dreams and goals I will be attending college for business administration to be sure that I will have the business side of things to understand and I would already have the cosmetology side down. During college I would like to start working in a salon to get my career started and build a clientele. Also by starting to work now while in college it will help me pay for college so that is one less thing I would need to worry about in my future. Growing up I admired my grandmother and her sister for being a hairstylist and actually enjoying their job. The main goal in life is to have a job where it doesn’t feel like a job, you want to actually enjoy what you do on a day to day base for a living and I truly believe cosmetology will have that feeling for me. When I was younger I had more of a passion for makeup than I did hair but after attending cosmetology school I have a better understanding of hairstyling and now I have an equal amount of passion for both hairstyling and makeup. What I love about the cosmetology field is that once you have your license you can branch off into different careers not just a hairstylist for example becoming a nail technician or an aesthetician and even a massage therapist. The great thing is once you get your education your not limited to just one profession you can have multiple skills and abilities and which you better your working portfolio. I am only at the starting line of my career but I am so excited to see what this career has in store for me and what true happiness I can bring for everyone.
