In the realm of computer science, my goals are centered around harnessing technology to understand and improve human well-being. I am particularly fascinated by the potential of technology to positively influence mental health. My aim is to delve into the development of digital platforms and tools that can provide support and interventions for mental health issues. This includes leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence to predict mental health conditions, creating user-friendly mental health applications, and ensuring these technologies are accessible to those who need them most. Beyond the technical sphere, my non-computer science goals are deeply rooted in mental health awareness, advocacy, and social justice. I am committed to breaking down the stigma associated with mental health, promoting equitable access to mental health resources, and ensuring that social justice principles are integrated into mental health care. My vision is to create a society where mental health is prioritized, and support is available to all, regardless of their background or circumstances. Looking to the future, I see a powerful synergy between my computer science and non-computer science goals. By combining my technical expertise with my passion for mental health and social justice, I aim to contribute to the field of Computational Social Science, which sits at the intersection of sociology, psychology, and computer science. This interdisciplinary approach will allow me to analyze and address complex societal issues such as misinformation, cyberbullying, and the digital divide, using data and sociological expertise. Furthermore, I plan to engage in research that explores the relationship between technology use and mental well-being, contributing to the body of knowledge that informs ethical technology development and use. With the rise of digital mental health platforms, there is a growing need to understand how these tools can be designed to respect privacy, avoid exacerbating mental health conditions, and truly benefit users. In practice, this means developing technologies that are not only effective but also empathetic and inclusive. For instance, machine learning can be used to identify biomarkers for mental health conditions, aiding in early diagnosis and personalized treatment plans. At the same time, I will advocate for the responsible use of such technologies, ensuring they are implemented in ways that do not harm but rather empower individuals and communities. My computer science goals involve creating and refining technology to support mental health, while my non-computer science goals focus on advocacy and social justice in mental health care. By integrating these objectives, I hope to make a significant impact on how society approaches mental health, making care more accessible, effective, and compassionate through the innovative use of technology.
