My name is Ema Godoy, and I am a Honduran from New Orleans, Louisiana. I actively engage in my community by volunteering at local elementary schools and retirement homes. Financially, my family and I face challenges, as my parents, who immigrated from Honduras in the 90s, have worked tirelessly to support my education and life goals. I am dedicated to keeping children safe from bullying by promoting kindness and awareness. I strongly oppose bullying and believe it is extremely wrong. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the struggles my parents faced to provide a better future for our family. Their perseverance and dedication have inspired me to pursue higher education and make a meaningful impact in my community. As a senior at Chapelle, I am planning to apply to LSU Health's Occupational Therapy program after my 4 years at LSU. My aspiration is to become a pediatric occupational therapist, where I can work with children to help them overcome physical and developmental challenges. In addition to my academic and career goals, I am deeply committed to community service. Volunteering at local elementary schools has given me the opportunity to mentor young students and assist teachers with classroom activities. This experience has reinforced my belief in the importance of education and the need to create a supportive and nurturing environment for children. At retirement homes, I have had the privilege of spending time with elderly residents, listening to their stories, and providing companionship. These interactions have taught me the value of empathy and the significance of giving back to those who have paved the way for future generations. One of my core values is promoting kindness and awareness to combat bullying. I believe that every child deserves to feel safe and respected, both in-person and online. To achieve this, I advocate for anti-bullying initiatives and work to educate others about the harmful effects of bullying. By fostering a culture of kindness and inclusion, we can create a safer and more supportive community for everyone. Despite the financial challenges my family and I face, I am determined to succeed in my academic and career pursuits. The sacrifices my parents have made motivate me to work hard and strive for excellence. I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given and am committed to using my education and experiences to make a positive difference in the lives of others. In conclusion, my journey as a Honduran from New Orleans has shaped my values and aspirations. I am dedicated to community service, promoting kindness, and pursuing a career in pediatric occupational therapy. With the support of my family and community, I am confident in my ability to overcome challenges and achieve my goals.
