Education to me was a waste of time and a chore. I was the student who hated going to school and waited until the last minute to do anything. This all changed by my sophomore year of high school. I began to take pride in my work and wanted people to see my potential and the capacity I had to achieve big things. Now, I love the time I have to learn, we learn new things every day, but education in the sense of a school setting is such a blessing. I am gifted time to simply learn, and ask questions to understand a deeper meaning. I think this idea of education changed when I gave my life to Jesus. I realized that I have been given an amazing opportunity and I want to make the most of every moment given. I want to learn more and be knowledgeable. education became more fun when it became about things I was interested in. I started to enjoy English because I enjoyed discussing topics and ideas with people. I also began to enjoy the books and stories that have so many different interpretations that could be made from only one piece of literature. I enjoyed my speech and debate class because a side of me I didn't know exisited and I found something I was good at that I would not have known otherwise. Instead of trying my hardest to not make eye contact with the teacher so I did not have to speak, I began sharing my ideas and opinions in class more. I felt like I was a part of group thirty to learn, and excited to ask questions and discover the answers. I had always loved my bible class, but the assignments started to feel less like a chore and became something I desired to learn on my own. To me, education means furthering our knowledge and understanding of our interests and passions. I have many goals for my life, but one I think a higher education would help me achieve would be to become an occupational therapist or special education administrator. I have a natural heart for students and adults with special needs and have been serving others my whole life. My younger brother was born with developmental delays which tremendously set him back in his education and social life. I have always been surrounded by people who were there to help him but I felt that they didn't truly care for his situation. I want to be the one who people notice how deeply I care. I believe a life worth living is a life glorifying God, and I want to help others and be as selfless as I can be as I go through life.
