Phillip Robinson Memorial Scholarship
I have always been fascinated with legal studies. I’ve grown up watching all the law shows and I love catching up on true crime when I can. I’ve kind of always known that studying legal studies would be my route if I had the chance to go to college.
The program I am currently in dives into different aspects of being a paralegal. You go from Tort law to Family law, Contracts, and even Criminal law. There is a wide range of fields you can learn in the paralegal program. Throughout the program, you can get a feel for what interests you, what you absolutely don’t want to practice, and ultimately what fits your personality and competence. Everything I have learned so far has only made me more excited to transfer and learn more about the field.
The college I am transferring to offers an even wider range of legal fields. I will get to educate myself on Oil law, Bankruptcy law (my most anticipated class), and other business-related legal matters. When you think of lawyers, you think of courtrooms and long nights. I’m here to show that it is a lot more than that.
My goal is to get my bachelor’s in business and law. I will find a firm that fits my field and gain experience while experimenting with the field. My ultimate goal is to continue to law school and practice law. I have my sights on family law, bankruptcy law, or probate. I’m not just doing this for myself as I am doing it for my family. I have an 18-month-old daughter who is counting on me to take care of her. I want her to be proud of her momma and to know that anything is possible if you try hard enough. Winning this scholarship only solidifies my chances of graduating and being an even better mentor to her.
Pursuing a law degree is not for the faint at heart. It takes a lot of concentration, determination, and a sense of fairness. I have always been the overachiever throughout school and it has not changed in my legal studies. My fascination with the legal system makes it that much easier to plunge myself into my studies and have the best outcome possible.
I appreciate your time and hope that I will be considered for this opportunity. This is my dream, and I will do whatever it takes to achieve it.
Kumar Family Scholarship
Hello! I am signing up for this scholarship and I appreciate the opportunity to do so. I am about to transfer from Kilgore College to the Center for Advanced Legal studies. The Pell Grant will not cover costs and I am currently a stay-at-home mother to my daughter, Emilee. This scholarship will help pay for tuition and fees and help me finish my bachelor’s degree in business and law.

I believe that it is crucial for women to be in law and political science. These fields shape the world around us, and it is essential that women have their part. As I have been studying the law, it has come to my attention how beneficial it would be to have variety in office meaning men/women and different races. Each has their own cultures and ethics to distribute to the community.
I am going to school for my daughter; to show her that it is possible to be anything you want to be if you try. I am a first-generation student, and I honestly did not think that I would make it this far. Being in the legal field has given me a sense of empowerment and purpose for myself and the community. It is very important for women to stand up and be a part of the system. Women have every right to be political and have power in government. Government needs women.

I worked at Kilgore College in the Financial Aid department. I assisted students in filling out the FAFSA and giving financial advice on scholarships and loans. Helping those students daily gave me a sense of pride and purpose by helping them achieve their goal of going to college. I will be honest. I had a baby at the beginning of 2023 and have barely left the house since then. I have catered 100 percent into being a stay-at-home mother and a full-time college student. I have not been an active part of the community for quite some time, but once I fulfill my bachelor's degree requirements, I will be able to assist the public once again. I strive to be a paralegal, and maybe, a lawyer some day. My role later will be even more important than my job at Kilgore and I understand the responsibility I am putting onto myself.

For two years, I worked at Kilgore College in the Financial Aid department. I assisted students in filling out the FAFSA and giving financial advice on scholarships and loans. Helping those students daily gave me a sense of pride and purpose by helping them achieve their goal of going to college. In my eyes, I would say that that is a form of patriotism.
Patriotism is defined as, “The feeling of love, devotion, and a sense of attachment to a country or state. This attachment can be a combination of different feelings for things such as the language of one's homeland, and its ethnic, cultural, political, or historical aspects.” My devotion to helping the students at Kilgore College achieve their goals is something I am enormously proud of and enthusiastic about. I want to help those who are in need in my community and to fight for those worth fighting for. I want the community to know that there is help and guidance. Disputes will be handled. Families will hopefully be mendable. My job is to mediate and take the press off of the situation at hand. I understand how intimidating it is to begin a legal process with a paralegal or attorney, and my ultimate goal is for my clients and people in the community to be comfortable with seeking me out. I want the legal process to be doable for anyone.
