As someone who grew up in a low-income household, I recognized that some things in life would be harder for me to achieve, including schooling. My parents sacrificed so much to be able to set me on a path to a better education, and that has inspired me to go into a field that allows me to help others. Helping others has become a life goal for me to follow, I want to be able to make a difference for someone who could really use it. For a while, I was stuck on what pathway I could take to help others until I started taking my AP Psychology course. Through the information and knowledge I gained from that class, I learned that I want to deal with Psychology. Using psychology would let me dive into the minds of people who are in need of help, I could provide them with clarity and the path to discover closure within themselves. I have a very strong ambition to make myself useful and dwell on the possibilities that I could assist in.
I myself was someone who could have really benefitted from the aid of a psychologist in my early years. struggling to simply exist within your own head is a very difficult thing to experience. I want to make sure that I can soothe the confusion and pain that other people experience so that fewer patients have to deal with the turmoil I had. I believe that the world could use more psychologists or that the world could use more psychological help. I believe in myself, I believe that I can fill in the role that is required to make a difference in the world. I can put in the work and I can put in the effort and I have proven to myself and to the people around me that I can be a valuable asset to the psychology field. I've been told that I am someone who is easy to open up to and trust.
Although I have the ambition of someone who could excel in this field, that isn't always enough.
Most workplaces would require me to have a doctorate to work in their facilities and that is not cheap at all. I would need to find different sources of income and financial aid and that still might lead me to take out loans, unfortunately. That is why I am trying my hardest to push myself to as many scholarships as possible. Any amount matters to me at this point of application. I find the transition from high school to college sort of scary but I cannot let me fear stop me from applying to things that really could help me along the way. I believe in myself and I believe that I can make a difference.
Nintendo Super Fan Scholarship
During the 2020 pandemic, I did not have much to fall back on to keep me happy, but I did have Nintendo Games. Playing on my Nintendo Switch allowed me to connect with my friends when I had no other way to see them. I remember the day that Animal Crossing: New Horizon came out, me and many of my friends bought the game and playing together was a really big highlight for that year. Whether it was gifting each other clothes or resources, interacting with the in-game characters or even just running around the island, playing Animal Crossing allowed me to have the much-needed social interaction that was missing at that time. That moment in time, 2020, was a really low point in many people's lives including my own. Nintendo games really helped people feel better about the world's situation. I want to have the same effect that Nintendo games have, which is being able to help out people who feel lost. I aim to become a psychologist when I am fully grown and developed. I want to be able to help people have are struggling and I want to give them my all. Nintendo games inspired me in a way, that I will gather my passion and use it to help others.

My goal in life is to help others in need. Throughout my life, I have always sought out different opportunities for me to make myself useful. I have done countless volunteering for different communities and organizations and participated in clubs like the Red Cross or the National Honor Society. However, I believe that my most impactful contribution has been at the Austell Youth Innovation Center. The Austell Youth Innovation Center is a location in Austell Georgia that serves as a day camp for young children to continue to learn over the summer. At the AYIC, I served my role as a Youth Leader. As I youth leader, it was my job to make sure that children were in a safe environment. I was often put in charge of groups of 20 or more children at a time, I also had to make sure that the classrooms and the bathrooms were clean, the children were fed, and they were all happy. I think that the most significant part of my role was to educate. I was entrusted to make sure that the kids understood different concepts of mathematics and literature. I would help them spell out words or create fluid sentences. I am honestly proud that I have been able to make such an impact on my community. I know that the children may not remember every single minute of attending the AYIC but I do know that I will become a memory, the kids will look back on their childhood and they will remember the Youth leader who helped them learn, prepared their meals or even bandaged their scrape.
I truly hope that I can continue this level of impact throughout my future career. I would simply love to go into a field that would help me help others. I think that the right path for me would be psychology. I have always been deeply intrigued with how the mind works, what makes it turn and how it remembers moments in time. I want to use psychology to help those around me. I want to make a difference in the lives of the people in my community. I want to be someone who can help as well as someone who people can look to for help. I love the feeling of making others feel safe. Through my future skills and profession, I will make myself useful and I will help those who need help.
