I am an international transfer student studying at the University of Arizona. I am passionate about gaining knowledge and experience, especially in the field of Marketing. I specifically want to go into campaigns, advertisements, and Digital Marketing. I also plan to major in Entrepreneurship to gain the skills and knowledge needed to run my marketing agency in the future. I try to stay as involved in school as possible, from academics to clubs, organizations, and sports. I love the whole experience that comes with college and I hope to finish strong. Any Scholarship would alleviate the financial struggles associated with paying international tuition and living expenses. Thank you.

One time I was conversing with my dad on how it is easier to make money, especially with the internet these days and I asked "What is the point of going to school especially when questions can be answered on the internet?" he said, " The cost of education is ignorance, and that's the worst place anyone can ever be". Honestly, I felt like I had to study the word 'Ignorance' after that response and it gave me a whole new perspective on not just education but knowledge.
I always liked 'knowing things' and 'learning things'. I even took a personality test and my results read that 'Instinctively, I equate language with power'. The language here goes beyond English and diction to actual wisdom and knowledge, and I agree. I feel education is important not just because it's socially accepted or ushers one into a new class but because it goes beyond what the world trades for a degree to what education tells one about oneself. The world can offer a respectable job, higher income, and even status but what is gained for oneself is even more valuable. Education shows interest, it shows self-discipline, it shows determination, perseverance, and commitment. It shows goal setting and achievement. It is evidence of life skills learned, networking, teamwork, improved communication, balance, organization to some degree, and growth.
Quite simply, Oxford defines education as an enlightening experience and more broadly, as the process of receiving or giving systemic instruction, especially at a school or university. From a young age, I've known experiences to serve as learning opportunities so simply having an enlightening one is worth it because it is an opportunity to learn something new or improve my understanding of something learned.
To me, I feel education is important because it is a survival skill. To survive every day, I have to make decisions. Those decisions then lead to my growth and to grow effectively and survive, I have to make better decisions which can only be made through learning. The thing about education is not just gaining knowledge though, it's having an understanding of what is learned. The journey doesn't stop at gaining an understanding either because that knowledge has to be applied with gotten understanding to be effective and efficient. This is how education has brought value to me. It has changed my thoughts and perspective on the world and situations. It has further changed my character and actions. Education has led me to appreciate other people and their journey and search for knowledge.
Ignorance is a sort of unawareness and inexperience. It is the lack of knowledge or information. Yes, I understand that I can be unconsciously ignorant especially in a specific field or on a specific topic but thanks to education, I am not generally at a disadvantage. I am aware and able to comprehend, understand, and appreciate the world, the people in it, and the system of it. I can make a difference and contribute positively, not negatively, to the evolving ecosystem of how the world works. Because of my education, I have an interest in business and to study marketing. I have the goal of helping dying businesses in my developing country, Nigeria, by building a marketing agency that provides affordable services to local businesses. Thereby, helping reduce unemployment rates and bettering the economy while giving back to a community that I am 'aware', has given me so much.
So, education brings value to me by eliminating the biggest risk in life, which is ignorance.
