Born out of a deep commitment to holistic wellness and community empowerment, I am a dedicated advocate for the transformative power of Ayurveda and integrative medicine. My journey towards this passion has been marked by significant milestones, including my current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine.
Choosing to embark on this educational endeavor as an adult mother was not a decision made lightly. However, it was driven by a profound sense of purpose—to augment my skill set for the advancement of The Ebony Yogi Foundation, a non-profit organization that holds a special place in my heart. Founded on principles of inclusivity, accessibility, and holistic health, The Ebony Yogi Foundation is dedicated to providing underserved communities with the tools and resources they need to thrive physically, mentally, and spiritually.
My decision to pursue a Bachelor's degree stands as a testament to my unwavering commitment to this cause. With each course completed, I am equipped with fresh insights and knowledge that serve to fortify our mission and amplify our impact. It is a deliberate step forward in bolstering our efforts, allowing us to reach more individuals and effect positive change on a broader scale.

Choosing to return to school as an adult mother was not an easy decision, but it was fueled by my deep desire to enhance my skill set for the betterment of The Ebony Yogi Foundation, the non-profit organization I hold dear. Pursuing a bachelor's degree is a testament to my commitment, aiming to acquire fresh insights and knowledge that could greatly support our cause. It's a step forward in amplifying our efforts, reinforcing our mission, and ultimately driving a deeper and broader impact on the communities we serve.
I founded The Ebony Yogi Foundation in 2021. The foundation is a 501 c3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to empower individuals to cultivate the skills and awareness necessary to effectively manage stress, enhance well-being, and promote resilience. Through evidence-based Yoga and, MBSR practices, we aim to foster a culture of mindfulness that enables individuals to lead healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives. We are dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive community that encourages the integration of mindfulness practices into daily life. Our ultimate goal for the foundation is to teach underserved communities and individuals about their profound innate resources for healing. I am going back to school to obtain my bachelor's degree in consciousness and Human Potential through Maharishi International University.
As we look forward to 2024, the concepts of consciousness and human potential have never been more pivotal. Our world has become increasingly complex, necessitating a higher level of awareness and understanding of not just the world around us, but also of ourselves. Consciousness, defined as the state of being aware of and able to think and perceive, is an essential component in navigating the intricacies of today's society. It allows us to make informed decisions, empathize with others, and ultimately play an active, positive role within our communities.
Furthermore, recognizing and harnessing human potential is crucial for societal development. Every individual possesses unique abilities and talents that, when nurtured and given the right opportunities, can lead to meaningful contributions to society. In 2023, our focus should be on creating environments that allow people to explore their capabilities, thereby encouraging individual growth and collective progress. By promoting consciousness and optimizing human potential, we set the foundation for a more inclusive, empathetic, and productive society.
Securing a scholarship for college tuition will undeniably serve as a significant aid in my educational journey toward obtaining a bachelor's degree in consciousness and Human Potential. This financial assistance will alleviate the burden of student loan debt, allowing me to focus more on my academics and the core mission of our foundation. Apart from merely being a financial benefit, earning a scholarship also brings a sense of accomplishment and validation for one's hard work and dedication. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to connect with more like-minded individuals who are passionate about consciousness and human potential, further enriching my college experience and enabling me to bring more to our mission.

Social Change Fund United Scholarship
My utopian vision for optimal mental health in the Black community involves a future where mental health is prioritized as equally as physical health. It is a world where mental health care is easily accessible, affordable, and culturally competent, catering to the specific needs of Black individuals who have been disproportionately affected by systemic racism and social disadvantage.
Mental health care and advocacy play a crucial role in achieving social justice for communities of color. By providing specialized, culturally sensitive mental health services, we can begin to address the unique mental health challenges faced by these communities, influenced by factors such as racial trauma and socioeconomic disparities. Advocacy can empower communities of color, raising awareness about mental health, breaking down stigmas, and promoting policy changes that increase access to quality mental health care. In essence, mental health care and advocacy can challenge systemic inequities, enabling social justice and fostering a healthier, more equitable future.

As an 'up-stander', I have always strived to be proactive in addressing the needs of my community. I believe in taking an assertive stance rather than being a bystander, leading by example to initiate positive change. My role at The Ebony Yogi Foundation allows me to leverage my voice and influence. With the widened perspective and enhanced skills, I aim to acquire from my bachelor's degree, I plan to create more inclusive programs, champion mental wellness, and promote health equity within our community. I am especially keen on utilizing innovative avenues to increase our reach and influence. My ultimate goal is to foster a community where everyone feels supported and empowered – a place where every voice matters, and everyone can reach their true potential.

Healing Self and Community Scholarship
As a Lupus survivor who was once immobile and confined to my bed. I overcame my disability and have spent the last 10 years researching the shift in my consciousness. I studied Prana, Mindfulness, and Meditation. I learned about epigenetics and the effects of stress on the telomeres. I graduated from my 300-hour yoga teacher training with just under one thousand teaching hours. Through my training, I also studied and became certified in sound healing and tuning the human biofield. Thai Bodywork, mindfulness as sustainability, Reiki and energy work, and MBSR. I continued teaching Yoga and created a somewhat lucrative business, Ebony Yogi.
I spoke on podcasts and taught at yoga festivals. I taught classes to City Council members, and at ribbon-cutting ceremonies throughout Arizona. I taught informal MBSR classes throughout Arizona and spoke on panels about reimagining healthcare. Through all of these offerings, the question remained, what happened in my consciousness that allowed me to overcome my illness?
In 2022, I founded a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, The Ebony Yogi Foundation with the mission to empower individuals to cultivate the skills and awareness necessary to effectively manage stress, enhance well-being and promote resilience through yoga, and meditation. The foundation uses evidence-based practices to teach underserved communities and individuals about their own profound innate resources for healing.
