Craig Norrbom Baseball Scholarship
Due to COVID-19, my school's baseball team didn't have a season my freshman year. We were devastated because we love to play baseball. Our weight room was also closed for a year. My teammates and I decided to work out and train on our own during the missed season to come back stronger than before! My Varsity team did just that. Last season, we won the Conference Championship which hadn't been done in five years. Two of my teammates won all-state and I won All-Conference. Since then, I have three offers to play D3 baseball in college! I am working to find scholarships to help pay for college as D3 schools can't offer them. It's a dream come true.
My Legacy Varsity team is gearing up again to make a run for State this year. I am a co-captain and I am encouraging my teammates to work hard in the off season to be prepared for spring. I, personally, am doing a lot of strength training, batting practice, and am meeting with a pitching trainer October-March to help improve my velocity for the team. Four of us seniors have offers to play in college. We are so proud of what we have achieved so far together.
I, along with a couple of my senior teammates, have been also volunteering to help train the younger baseball players involved in youth baseball. We have really enjoyed helping them learn about the game. We also go and watch them play in their Little League games.
I love baseball because of my teammates who are my best friends. We push each other to improve. We encourage each other to eat healthy food and protein in order to be able to gain weight and muscle. We are like brothers! Baseball is so much fun to play and watch. I have been playing baseball since t-ball, and I have had so many amazing memories with awesome teams. When I was 13, I pitched a championship game for my travelling team and we won. We then got to go down on the field during a Minnesota Twins game to be recognized. It was a fantastic experience. I have also learned so much about life from baseball and from my coaches. My coaches haven't just taught me about baseball, they have taught me about life. I've learned how important it is to be a person with character and integrity. I have also learned about work ethic and time management. It's also important to focus on school and getting great grades while playing baseball. Baseball has given me many important gifts and lessons in life. I am blown away that my effort has led to be able to play in college!
My favorite team is my hometown team of the Minnesota Twins. Their stadium is only 30 minutes from my house. There's nothing like being at the ballpark. My favorite player is Aaron Judge because he is humble but is a really good player too. He was also adopted as a baby like my dad was. I think he has a really interesting life story. I think his success story is great.
In closing, as I mentioned above, I am applying for scholarships to help fund my education so that I can play baseball in college at the D3 level. If I am so fortunate to receive this scholarship, I will pay it forward some day to another student who loves baseball as much as I do!
Thank you for your consideration.
