My dream career is to own my own nonprofit business installing off-grid solar electric systems to provide sustainable electricity for people in poverty. I would also like to own land and be a small-time farmer. In my free time I enjoy writing short stories, painting, and playing the piano.

Trades Make the World Go 'Round
I've wanted to be an electrician since I was 14 years old. I am enrolled in trade school and I hope to graduate to a career in solar installation. I want to bring environmentally sustainable and affordable home electricity to people in poverty living without electricity. It's my dream to use passive solar building methods along with solar electric microgrid systems and conservationism to create sustainable housing suitable to withstand the looming effects of climate catastrophe. I think access to electricity is a human right and I want to be able to do the hands-on work proving it to people in need. With a trade school education I can gain the tools I need to work on becoming a certified electrician and pursue my dreams of helping people in need gain access to electricity and helping the environment. I want to bring electricity to those who don't have it, people like Indigenous people on reservations far from grid power, people living in countries such as Jamaica where the power companies have monopolized access to affordable electricity, or people living in Costa Rica or Louisiana where natural disaster has left them without power and greedy corporations controlling the grid do nothing to help. With a certification, I'll be able to build solar microgrids and put the power quite literally in the hands of the people. Trades are incredibly important because they give people their homes. Construction workers and masons put roofs over people's heads. Plumbers give them access to water, HVAC workers provide protection from winter cold and summer heat, and electricians bring light to the dark. I want to be someone who can provide one of these fundamental and vitally important needs.
