Bio

I am an artist at heart, having previously developed my art through self teaching. I have many ideas with the potential to be great, many of which may not come to fruition without education to further improve my art skills. These skills will aid my ultimate goal in life; to create art that inspires people the same way I have been over the years. My passion for art came about fairly recently: halfway through high-school sophomore year, but as soon as it came to me I took it and ran with it. Building the fundamentals through the past years, all the while searching for my goal which I have, evidently, found.

Art has been my refuge, a transformative outlet that allowed me to reshape the chaos of my surroundings into tangible expressions of my daily life. Growing up in an environment marked by loudness and lack of privacy, both my home and the outside world introduced anxiety and uncertainty into my life. I would navigate these situations using my left-brain, thinking logically about whatever predicament I would be placed in-- almost too much at times. However, my right-brain would become largely underutilized, and I would be continuously anxious regardless of whatever left-brained thinking I would do. In response, I turned to visual art, creating sketches on notebook paper and textbook margins, utilizing whatever resources my parents could afford. I believe this sparked an early passion for art, a small flame that would eventually bloom into a wildfire of inspiration and creativity as time went on. The turning point of my artistic endeavors began when I first caught wind of the realm of digital art, where my artwork was no longer restricted to whatever resources I could afford or had access to. I began creating illustrations on this app named 'Ibispaintx', on a barely functioning Android phone that often lagged under the weight of my creative aspirations. Despite these technological constraints, the digital platform opened a new chapter in my artistic journey and sparked a greater passion for the realm of art. The once familiar feel of a pencil on paper was replaced by the glide of my finger on a touch screen. This transition from a tangible medium to digital brought with it a sense of liberation-- a freedom to experiment with colors, textures, and styles that were previously inaccessible to me. Eventually, my art became a form of self-expression. Utilizing a combination of right-brained creativity and left-brained strategic thinking, I experimented with ways to mix and match a variety of mediums to create a more meaningful piece. This has become the very essence of my creative process, using photography to capture riveting moments, graphic design to add visual cohesion, and illustration to add a touch of surrealism, among others. It has become a tool I use to bring out aspects of myself, such as fashion, which I wish to accentuate. And now, in the present day, I extend this to others, circling back to the beginning of my artistic journey. Through extending my artwork to a broader audience, my passion for the arts lies in evoking emotion, stimulating thought, and inspiring a shared sense of creativity- where creativity becomes a collective journey rather than an isolated pursuit. Through a slew of workshops, exhibitions, and collaborative projects, I look forward to creating opportunities for individuals to engage with their own sense of individuality and creation.

I started out using visual art as a way to make my, quite frankly, hectic environment into something more palpable, depicting things that I would find in my daily life or dreams. At home, while I felt safe, my life was often filled with loudness and a distinct lack of privacy, and my experiences with school and the outside world would often be filled with anxiety and uncertainty. At this point I would create art exclusively through whatever traditional means I could find, often utilizing notebook paper or textbook margins. In these early days, my sketches were humble, yet they carried a certain authenticity that stemmed from a genuine connection to my surroundings. This changed when I first caught wind of the realm of digital art, where my artwork was no longer restricted to whatever resources I could afford or had access to. I began creating illustrations on this app named 'Ibispaintx', on a barely functioning Android phone that often lagged under the weight of my creative aspirations. Despite these technological constraints, the digital platform opened a new chapter in my artistic journey. The once familiar feel of a pencil on paper was replaced by the glide of my finger on a touch screen. This transition from a tangible medium to digital brought with it a sense of liberation-- a freedom to experiment with colors, textures, and styles that were previously inaccessible to me. However, this newfound freedom came at a cost. The allure of digital art, coupled with the instant gratification of online validation, slowly morphed my creative pursuit into an unquenchable thirst for approval. This would eventually become an obsession, I would devote much of my waking hours to improving my artistic capabilities, simply for the sake of acceptance. 'Likes' and 'clicks' would become my form of nourishment as I fell into a neverending spiral of self-doubt. I could never create a piece of artwork 'for' myself, therefore many things changed when I began to create artworks 'of' myself. This depiction of the outside world eventually moved inwards as I started focusing more on myself and my health, shifting my art towards a form of self-expression. In tandem, I began to experiment with ways to mix and match mediums in order to create a more meaningful piece. This has become the very essence of my creative process, using photography to capture riveting moments, graphic design to add visual cohesion, and illustration to add a touch of surrealism, among others. It has become a tool I use to bring out aspects of myself, such as my fashion style, which I wish to accentuate. And now, in the present day, I extend this to others, circling back to the beginning of my artistic journey. Looking ahead, I aspire to utilize my artistic endeavors not only as a means of personal expression and self-discovery but also as a bridge to connect with others. Through extending my artwork to a broader audience, I hope to evoke emotion, stimulate thought, and inspire a shared sense of creativity- where creativity becomes a collective journey rather than an isolated pursuit. Through a slew of workshops, exhibitions, and collaborative projects, I look forward to creating opportunities for individuals to engage with their own sense of individuality and creation.

Over the years I have built my visual art skills through self-teaching, taking to mediums such as drawing and digital painting to express whatever thought that runs through my mind. Akin to my moment-to-moment mindset, I grab my immediate feelings, words, and ideas and merge them into an art piece. That urge to create art is often erratic and abrupt, although alongside that erratic urge, I also tend to take the more methodical approach of studying the artwork of other, more experienced artists. I study their values, line-work, colors, etc., increasing both the variety and quality of my own artwork. Whether I want to casually create a piece or formally develop my art skills there are no restrictions to what I can do, regardless of what I am feeling, thinking, or seeing at a certain moment. This is exactly what makes art so important to society: it's unbounded. It is unrestricted by feelings, tangibility, and words. It transcends languages, cultures, and has the ability to create bridges where there is only division. Words and objectivity become lost as ideas become the forefront, with the artist's materials, canvas, and mentality becoming a catalyst for creation. Concepts ranging from a somber, melancholic mood to an eerie, mystical ambience can be invoked depending on what an artist wants to visualize. A charcoal drawing of an uncanny scene brewing in chaos may make one feel anxious and uneasy, yet a painting of a flower drifting in the wind may set a viewer's mind at ease. Unbounded by location, demographic, and status, ideas sprouting from both individual people and collective groups can be expressed and bridged, allowing for a near infinite range of possibilities. The only true bounds of art are the limits of human capabilities and expression, a testament to the sheer versatility of art as a medium. The same reason that makes art so important to society is the one that makes it irreplaceable. Its unrestricted nature and ability to capture abstract concepts is a characteristic which few other mediums can achieve at the same level. It, for the most part, is an escape from reality to a world which simply cannot be articulated. One doesn't need spoken language to view or derive meaning from art. It is up to the viewer to feel, inspect, and draw conclusions from an art piece. Feelings derived from art are purely psychological, yet the bonds it forms, connections it creates, and effects it has are 100 percent real.

I was once contacted by a person seemingly enamored by an art-piece I created. "This is amazing, you have the potential to be something great" they said to me: an insignificant person creating amateur illustrations in my own little corner on the internet. I took this to heart, culminating into the basis of my artistic vision: inspiration. The same way that person believed in me, my dream is for people to view my work and believe in themselves. Whether it be visual storytelling that gives someone the urge to create, or someone seeing it as a goal to be reached.
