Bio

My name is Dillon Watson. I am the youngest of four children. I am a Senior at Allen High School in Allen, Texas. I will be starting my Freshman year studying Aviation Maintenance Science at Embry-Riddle in the Fall of 2023. My mom is a Speech Therapist and my father is in Electrical Contracting. I have learned my love of tools and working with my hands from him. In High School, I have participated in many extracurriculars. The most memorable have been lacrosse and public safety and law. Being a part of the lacrosse program has shown me leadership, teamwork, and discipline. Being Co-captain of my lacrosse team and mentoring the younger athletes in our program is very rewarding. Participating in the Public Safety and Law classes has shown me that there is always someone that will have your back in life. I enjoy helping to keep my school safe. Going to college has been a major goal for my family and myself. I am looking forward to getting my Bachelors in Aviation Maintenance Science. My grandfather was a MinuteMan in the Air Force and also worked in the shuttle program for NASA. Following in his footsteps, I hope to one day have an opportunity to work on any sort of space shuttle or get any opportunity to help in the designing of a space shuttle or military-grade rocket. Aeronautics has been an interest of mine for years. So, when I began searching for possible career opportunities that would best fit my interest in planes and knowledge of tools, I came across Aviation Maintenance.

My name is Dillon Watson. I am the youngest of four children. I have one older brother and two older sisters. I also have a niece and a nephew. I am a Senior at Allen High School in Allen, Texas. I will be starting my Freshman year studying Aviation Maintenance Science at Embry-Riddle in the Fall of 2023. Having my mom as one of the teachers at my Elementary School I was able to experience a lot of memories other students my age might not have gotten to experience. I feel being able to stay after school and create trusting relationships with other teachers and their kids and make memories with them was one of the reasons I was able to become more sociable and be the kind and friendly person that I am today. My father is in Electrical Contracting. I have learned my love of tools and working with my hands from him. Being the youngest, I have gotten to spend a lot of time helping him do projects around our house. In High School, I have participated in many extracurriculars. The most memorable have been lacrosse and public safety and law. Having the chance to be a part of these two programs helped mold me into a service-oriented person. By obtaining a college education I hope to gain a partnership with a major airline. My grandfather was a MinuteMan in the Air Force and also worked in the shuttle program for NASA. Following in his footsteps, I hope to one day have an opportunity to work on any sort of space shuttle or get any opportunity to help in the designing of a space shuttle or military-grade rocket. Although I have been at a crossroads in deciding my future after High School, Aeronautics has been an interest of mine for years. So, when I began searching for possible career opportunities that would best fit my interest in planes and knowledge of tools, I came across Aviation Maintenance. Having done further research into this career path, I feel that furthering my education in this area can help reach my future goals and help me put everything I have learned throughout my life to good use. This scholarship will benefit me for many reasons. To start with, the college I am attending is out of state, making it a little more expensive for my family and myself. I want to help my parents with lessening loan and education costs, so I am applying for as many scholarships as possible as well as working over the summer to earn money to help pay for school.
