What motivated me to pursue college was the fact that I will be a first-generation college student. I always wanted to continue my education because it's also what my mom wanted. I want to make her proud as well as myself. I want to take this education and experience further, in order to do something, I will be proud of and know I did it.
With this being said, I wish to pursue Architecture in Design. As difficult as it is to get through the process, I chose to do this. I chose this to be the hard subject I want as my future. I like to draw structures and I even got to work with online applications such as AutoCAD. It's in a way relieving and eventful. I am able to express my mind and thoughts through drawing of structures and planning. It's like an escape from reality.
Have you ever felt what it was like to finally escape from reality? To focus fully on one thing and have no worries, and just cancel all the noise? This is what working with planning does for me or just creating different structures allows me to feel; free.
As a first-generation student, it's more difficult because I have no other person to really look up to or to help me with the process. I am as lost with the process as starting school for the first time again. But this is also another situation that comes with the experience of me wanting to further pursue my career in Architecture in Design. My financial struggle is yet another obstacle for me wanting to further pursue my education in this instance.
Being able to show and prove that I can achieve better grades with some financial assistance will be something out of this world. The stress of being a first-generation college student with a single mother who also does her best to help me with little to no knowledge about this kind of situation is in a way heartbreaking to me.
So, with this kind of situation, it creates motivation for me to continue with my search in hopes to find some financial assistance in order to pursue a career that allows me to be free. Although, the work won't be stress free, it'll still be something I enjoy struggling in.
I also hope to use the acquired knowledge for structuring my own home in the future as well. Which is another reason I want to pursue this career.
Thank you.
