I have been in college for two years now. When beginning I knew that I would go through an immense amount of change, but never would I have thought I would change the way I did. The only way I can explain my true, raw experience, would be to break it down through semesters.
Fall semester of freshman year, is a me that I that was tested. It was truly a moment of despair and was one of the darkest times I have ever been in. I was bombarded with the burden of Financial struggles, but i was also struggling tremendously with being able to adapt. When i first walked into my financial aid advising appointment, I was immediately told that in terms of financial aid there is nothing that I could do. I was faced with with two options of either leaving Penn state and pursuing my academic career elsewhere, or taking out loans and federally binding myself to the school, and its tuition . It was within that moment I learned how strong my dedication truly is. Although yes i was scared to take that path, I had a motto to myself that i will never let money stop me from living the life i wanted to live. When i was a little girl, all i ever dreamed of was attending university, and becoming a prestigious and well respected student. I wanted nothing more than to attend Penn state, and thats just what i was going to do. No matter what.

Bold Growth Mindset Scholarship
There have been so many times in my life, where I've just wanted to give up. It all consumes my mind and eats me up inside. It makes me feel like the decisions that I make, and the risks I take are detrimental to my future. But then you think about life itself. Life will move on whether you fail or succeed. So rather than staying in one place, scared to move on, I remember that if you don't take the risks that you do in life, you'll be stuck in the same place for the rest of it.
Not moving on from what you're used to is a safe but unproductive move. It doesn't help you grow into the person you want to be. growth, requires steps, work, and effort. When growing a flower you don't just let it sit and water it. Although yes this is good for the plant it doesn't give it everything it needs to blossom into what it could be. The same applies to life, how you grow as a person takes steps. It takes failure, success, and effort. A setback isn't the end, rather it's the beginning of new growth, even better growth in fact, now that you've learned from the last attempt.
This is how I keep my growth mindset. Yes, when I am sad and feel like I have failed in something, it hurts, but this is not what defines who I am as a person. What defines me is how I deal with this setback and apply it to my life for the future. Although I am still young and still learning, I know that the person who I will be in my life is a person I will be extremely proud of, because I'll know how much I'd grown.
3LAU "Everything" Scholarship
We all endure adversity in our lives. So much that we sometimes feel like giving up. So much to the point where we damage the people we love, and lose interest in the things we enjoy. When life gets tough, we ask ourselves, "What motivates me to keep going, what is my everything?"
For some, this is a difficult topic, and for others, there is no answer, but for me, everything is the rain pounding the roof on a Tuesday afternoon as I read my favorite novels. Everything for me is blasting Pluto Project in my room while reminiscing about life, or watching the sunset while driving along the streets with nothing but myself to enjoy the wonders of the planet. Something both vain and presumptuous.
The splendors of life are unlike any other. Nothing in the cosmos has ever been able to induce in a person a feeling like this. So, through thick and thin, no matter how depressed or uplifted I am, life is my everything in this world.
