I'm Dayton, a graphic design student driven by passion and ambition. My life goals are centered around the fusion of sports and art. I envision using my expertise in graphic design to transform how athletes engage with their audiences. I aspire to work as a graphic design artist for a professional sports team, creating compelling narratives through digital graphics that amplify the beauty of the game and the spirit of the players.
My passion for graphic design began when I managed my junior college's Twitter account. I knew little about the power of graphic design in creating a strong, engaging media presence. However, this challenge only fueled my curiosity and determination. I self-educated in various aspects of graphic design and digital strategies, enabling me to turn creative ideas into engaging, artful presentations that captivate audiences.
As a student-athlete, I understand the demands and dedication required in both academics and sports. This understanding, coupled with my entrepreneurial spirit, led me to start my own freelance business focusing on graphic design for athletes and sports organizations.
What sets me apart as a candidate is my unique blend of sports knowledge, artistic skills, and business savvy. My dual passion for art and sports has honed my ability to connect with audiences in a meaningful and innovative way. I am grateful for your consideration and support, and I am eager to leave an indelible mark on the world of sports graphic design.

Dr. Alexanderia K. Lane Memorial Scholarship
Helping others is a concept that is fundamentally grounded in connection, empathy, and empowerment. My understanding of these core principles significantly deepened during a transformative experience I had with the Kentridge Special Needs Unified Team.
As an avid sports enthusiast, I had always thrived in the invigorating environment of competition and camaraderie that accompanied my own participation in sports. The field was my sanctuary, the crowd my personal choir, and the players my family. It was a blissful oblivion where the harsh realities of the world seldom intruded. However, my perspective shifted dramatically when I witnessed a practice session of the Kentridge Special Needs Unified Team in a nearly empty gym. Their unadulterated love for the game, despite the lack of fanfare and community support, prompted a sobering realization of the privileges I had been taking for granted. This jarring awareness sparked a strong resolve within me to help level the playing field.
Determined to effect change, I rallied with a group of like-minded students to create "Pack the Gym." Our mission was simple, yet ambitious: to provide the unified team with the exhilarating game experience they rightfully deserved—an experience that many of us overlooked. Despite the mammoth task that lay ahead, involving countless hours of planning, rallying, advertising, and convincing, our excitement and resolve grew exponentially each day.
When the game day arrived, the atmosphere was electrifying. The gym, usually sparse, was buzzing with anticipation. The cheerleaders, the band, and most importantly, the student body turned out in full force to support the special needs team. Amidst cheers that could rival any major league game, the radiant smiles on the players' faces epitomized the true victory of our efforts. A poignant moment etched in my memory is when Lizzy, an athlete with profound challenges, shot and scored. The thunderous applause from the crowd signified not just a winning point, but a heartfelt celebration of Lizzy's courage and determination.
This event, "Pack the Gym," transcended the boundaries of a mere sports event. It shone a spotlight on the essence of helping others—it's about fostering a sense of belonging, about acknowledging the invaluable contribution of time, presence, and the willingness to uplift others. It served as a powerful lesson in unity, community strength, and the transformative power of collective efforts.
In the wake of this event, my perspective on helping others underwent a profound evolution. I understood that it is not confined to the donation of resources; it’s about creating meaningful, lasting impacts, no matter how small they might initially seem. As the next generation, we possess the unique opportunity and responsibility to ensure that everyone—regardless of their circumstances—feels included, appreciated, and supported. Helping others, at its core, involves forging connections, fostering mutual understanding, and empowering those around us.
Through experiences such as these, I've discovered that the joy derived from helping others surpasses all other joys. It's a joy that resonates deeply within the heart and soul, echoing the inherent human values of empathy and compassion. As I navigate my future, I am committed to perpetuating this spirit of helping—one game, one cheer, one smile at a time, leaving an indelible mark of positivity in the lives of those I encounter.

Ever since I can remember, baseball has been a huge part of my life. As a kid, I loved the excitement of the game, the team spirit, and the thrill of competition. But as I got older and started my freshman year at Pierce College, I realized that my passion for baseball had become more than just a pastime. It had sparked my interest in a potential career path that merged my love for sports with my growing fascination for digital media and technology.
So, what potential careers am I exploring while in college? To put it simply, I want to become a game-changer in the world of sports digital media. I’m setting my sights on being a digital media manager for a professional baseball team. But I don't just want to stop there. I also have plans to continue growing my own freelance digital art business, where I get to flex my creative muscles and help clients bring their visions to life.
Why do I think these careers will bring me fulfillment? The answer is straightforward: these paths combine my passions and skills in a way that feels both exciting and natural to me.
Baseball has always made me feel alive. There's something about the energy of the game that just draws me in. Being able to work in an industry that revolves around this sport would mean getting to stay close to this source of joy, which for me, is a dream come true.
Digital media, on the other hand, offers a way to be creative and innovative. It’s a field where technology meets art, where each project is a new opportunity to learn, grow, and push boundaries. The idea of using my digital skills to promote the sport I love, to tell athletes' stories, and to engage with fans is thrilling. It’s like bringing together the best of both worlds.
On top of that, running my own freelance digital art business means having the freedom to choose projects that resonate with me. It allows me to continue learning, growing, and honing my skills. It's not just about making a living; it's about making a life that I enjoy and am proud of.
In the end, it all comes down to passion. I believe that when you love what you do, you will keep doing no matter how hard it gets. For me, a career in sports digital media wouldn’t just be a job, but a continuation of my love for baseball and my passion for digital innovation. That's why I'm confident that pursuing these career paths in college will lead to a fulfilling and exciting future.
