Bio

Hello! My name is Daribel and I am currently a Sociology Major at the City College of New York. When I obtain a bachelor's degree in Sociology, I hope to further my education to earn a Master's in Social work or Education. My interests include; astrology, Women's studies, Black & Latinx studies, child development & education, baking, jewelry making, and many more. Coming from a single-parent household, as the only girl I've learned to be independent, resilient, and confident in my choices. I plan to continue to expand my knowledge of the world and myself as I grow and obtaining a scholarship will help alleviate the pressures of financial hardships. Thank you for viewing my profile. Have a great day!

    Hermit Tarot Scholarship
A card is sat face down in the center of a table as two women surround it. Once the card is flipped around its face is revealed. The Queen of Wands. A card representing creativity and ambition, water and fire, feminine energy, and emotional intelligence. Love. Intuition. Nurture. These words come to mind when describing my favorite tarot card, The Queen of Wands. This card has always held a special place in my heart. The Queen of Wands represents a strong woman in tune with herself and her abilities. Growing up, I watched as my mother read cards for herself or her friends and when I got older, she eventually taught me how to read them. The Queen of Wands was often a card that would come up in spreads for me, especially when I doubted myself or my abilities. It came as a guiding figure, one portraying the idea that no matter what, I would always have the maternal figures in my life supporting me. For a long time, the Queen of Wands represented motherhood, it meant my mother, my grandmother, and my aunts. Strong independent women who believed in themselves, who took action, and who were supportive, confident, and loving. When this card came to me, it meant that I would have women in my corner who would understand me, give me encouraging advice, and always protect me even in my most difficult moments. The Queen of Wands's connection to water and fire reinforced this idea for me. Fun fact my grandmother and I are fire signs while my mother and one of her sisters are water signs, this was a little coincidence that made me love the card even more. It was as though the card was a part of my maternal figures themselves reassuring me that they would always have my back, and they always did. While this card represents motherhood, I also feel that this card represents me. This card always came to me in times of doubt, mostly self-doubt. One advice I received from my mother that I always hold close to my heart is to be confident and believe in myself and my abilities, and that I am protected. I’ve always been surrounded by strong women and while I may not always feel the strongest, I know that I am capable of so much. This card reminds me of that. It reminds me that I am strong, I am creative, ambitious, and nurturing. I can do anything and be anything, just like the women before me. That is why the Queen of Wands is my favorite card.
