Since the fall of Adam and Eve, the reasoning and understanding of humanity's rationality distorts what Truth is. For Example, when Adam /Eve believed they would not die from eating the forbidden fruit, they did. From that experience, it can be seen that Truth is divided into three perspectives: Adam, Eve, and the Truth. Adam's Truth was that he was fed fruit from the woman; Eve recounted that the serpent had tricked her, but they both failed to address why they did it(which was due to what they chose to believe/their Truth). Adam blamed Eve for his choice of eating the fruit and his choosing not to believe God's Truth and, in turn, creating half-truths or perverted truths. The Truth was that he chose disobedience instead of following God's instruction, not how it happened. It was true but not the Truth, which then became Adam's Truth. (King James Version, 2001, Genesis, 3:1-14) Following that, Cain, when confronted about his anger with his sacrifice's rejection, believed that killing his brother would resolve his problem with why God was rejecting his gift. When God spoke to Cain and gave instructions, Cain rejected God's Truth and made his own by killing Able. As the Bible illustrates, humanity has seemingly chosen to make its way by rejecting God's Truth. (King James Version, 2001, Genesis, 4:1-8) With humanity corrupting Truth due to sin, Truth has been divided into your Truth, my Truth, and the Truth. Before the fall of Man, there was only God's Truth. Like these examples, it is easy to see how Truth is accepted, perverted, or even ignored for various reasons. For Example, when God spoke to Sarah about having a baby, she laughed, then proceeded to give her husband her servant to have a baby with because she did not believe God's Truth (which indeed is his word/the Bible), then perverted God's Truth and turned it into her own through the inception of allowing her maid to carry the baby. She struggled to understand God's Truth due to circumstances that seemed impossible. In the Bible, the Truth stems from the will of God. However, due to free will, humanity has the right to choose, but one can end up experiencing one's version of Truth without actually experiencing it as Sarah did. Abraham had a seed, but it was not the promised one then. (King James Version, 2001, Genesis, 16:1-17) In the Bible, Romans 1:20 highlights how God gave those over to a mind that cannot accept him due to the depravity that they chose. So, in return for rejecting the Knowledge of God (Romans 1 mentions knowing God through nature, yet rejecting him and serving idols), they were given over to their desires/beliefs. Human nature has evolved into creating belief systems and personal truths that originate from rejecting God's Truth. So, as a Christian attending a Christian college for a master's degree in Psychology and Family Counseling, One can recognize the importance of assessing whether the Truth has been assumed or received from God. God has given his people universal truths: they will have victorious ends, and he will complete the work he has started in them. If one becomes invested in finding their Truth and not evaluating the one God has given them, they create room for deception or miss out on the Truth God intended them to have, similar to those mentioned above.
