I want to become a nurse because of my experiences working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Being a CNA has shown me how important it is to care for people when they are at their most vulnerable. Every day, I interact with patients who are sick, helpless, and in need of comfort and care. These experiences have deepened my desire to become a nurse, so I can help them more effectively. As a CNA, I often find myself in situations where I wish I could do more for my patients. I see their pain, fear, and struggles, and it breaks my heart when all I can offer is a kind word or a gentle touch. While these small acts of care are important, I have a strong desire to do more—to provide the kind of skilled medical care that can truly make a difference in their lives. This is why I want to become a nurse. Nursing is about more than just treating illnesses; it’s about caring for the whole person. I want to use my skills and knowledge to help my patients heal, not just physically but emotionally as well. I want to be there for them in their toughest moments, offering both medical care and compassionate support. My time as a CNA has taught me the value of patience, empathy, and hard work, and I am ready to take the next step in my career by becoming a nurse. Coming from a Filipino family, I’ve been raised with a strong sense of respect for elders and a deep commitment to family. These values have shaped my approach to patient care. When I care for my patients, I think of them as I would my own family. I want to ensure that each person receives the same level of care, compassion, and dignity that I would want for my loved ones. This mindset drives me to treat every patient with the utmost respect and kindness, just as I would hope someone would treat my family members. Growing up in a low-income household, I have seen the difference that quality healthcare can make in a person’s life. My family often struggled to access the care we needed, and this has fueled my passion to become a nurse who can help others, especially those who may not have easy access to healthcare. I want to be the kind of nurse who makes my patients feel safe and cared for, no matter their circumstances. In conclusion, my experiences as a CNA and my background as a Filipino have inspired me to pursue a career in nursing. I am passionate about helping others and am driven to provide the best care possible. Becoming a nurse will allow me to take the skills I’ve learned as a CNA and use them to make an even bigger impact on the lives of my patients. I am excited about the journey ahead and look forward to the opportunity to make a real difference in the world through nursing.

My vision for myself as a nurse in the future is rooted in the high-stakes environments of Intensive Care Units (ICU) and as a flight nurse, where I can make a significant impact on patients' lives during their most critical moments. Both roles demand a high level of expertise, quick decision-making, and an unwavering commitment to patient care—qualities that I aspire to embody as I advance in my nursing career. As someone who comes from a low-income background, the journey toward becoming a nurse has been challenging. The financial constraints have required me to work full-time as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the night shift while balancing the demands of school. Working night shifts has been physically and mentally exhausting, but it has also deepened my resolve to succeed in my nursing career. Juggling these responsibilities has been difficult, but it has also made me more resilient, resourceful, and determined to achieve my goals. As an ICU nurse, I see myself working in a fast-paced, demanding environment where every second counts. The ICU is a place where patients are often at their most vulnerable, facing life-threatening conditions that require constant monitoring and intervention. My role as an ICU nurse would be to provide the highest level of care, utilizing advanced medical technology and my clinical skills to stabilize patients and support their recovery. I envision myself as a nurse who is not only technically proficient but also compassionate, offering emotional support to patients and their families during these intense and often overwhelming experiences. In the ICU, teamwork is critical, and I aspire to be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. I see myself collaborating with doctors, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists to develop and implement care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. My goal is to contribute to a culture of excellence in patient care, where continuous learning and improvement are prioritized. I am committed to staying current with the latest advancements in critical care nursing, pursuing certifications and further education to enhance my knowledge and skills. Beyond the ICU, I also envision myself as a flight nurse, providing critical care in even more challenging environments. Flight nursing combines the demands of emergency medicine with the complexities of transport logistics, requiring nurses to deliver care in unpredictable and often extreme conditions. Whether on a helicopter or a fixed-wing aircraft, I see myself responding to medical emergencies in remote locations, stabilizing patients, and ensuring their safe transport to specialized care facilities. As a flight nurse, I would be responsible for making rapid assessments and interventions in situations where resources are limited, and time is of the essence. This role requires not only advanced clinical skills but also the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure. I am drawn to the challenge of adapting to diverse and often unpredictable situations, where I can utilize my expertise to save lives in the most critical circumstances. In both the ICU and as a flight nurse, I am driven by the desire to be a source of strength and stability for patients during their most difficult moments. I see myself as a nurse who is not only skilled and knowledgeable but also compassionate and empathetic. My vision includes being a mentor to new nurses, sharing my experiences and knowledge to help them develop their skills and confidence in these demanding fields. Ultimately, my vision for myself as a nurse in the future is one where I am making a tangible difference in the lives of critically ill and injured patients. Whether in the controlled environment of the ICU or the unpredictable settings of flight nursing, I am committed to providing the highest standard of care, advocating for my patients, and continuously striving to improve my practice. My journey as a nurse is one of lifelong learning, growth, and dedication to the well-being of those I care for, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in these challenging and rewarding roles. Despite the challenges of balancing work, school, and financial constraints, I am determined to succeed and fulfill my vision of becoming a highly skilled and compassionate nurse.

I am dedicated to providing critical care where every decision counts and offering support that uplifts and inspires patients in their most vulnerable times. My journey toward becoming a nurse has been both enlightening and transformative. I started as a Certified Nursing Assistant on a Med-Surg floor, where I managed various patient conditions and developed a solid foundation in care.
