My life goals for the next 8 years is to complete my bachelors degree in Biology and get matched to a Dental School. I want to be a General Dentist. My passion is cheerleading, dance, track, and learning about dentistry. I am an excellent candidate for this scholarship because this opportunity will help me with all of my colleges expenses. I’m from a single parent, low income home so any help will be greatly appreciated from myself and my mother.

Future Dentists Scholarship
I was inspired to pursue the dental field by going to my dental appointments when I was a small child. My mother took me to my dental appointments for teeth cleanings every six months starting at the age of two. I can remember enjoying the experience at such a young age. My dentist and dental hygienist was nice, gentle, and fun to be around. I liked the dentist office atmosphere and the goody bags I received at the end of my appointment. I was never afraid to go get my teeth cleaned. As I got older I still had a deep interest in dentistry. I joined the Texas A&M University Future Dental Club for high school students. I was also accepted into the Texas A&M University Summer Pre-Dental program for high school and college students. This summer will be my fourth year in the program. I've been inspired by meeting several dentist and current dental students. Studying dentistry every summer has been confirmation that I do want to be a dentist. I want to help people by providing their oral care. Oral care is just as important as any care that is provided by medical doctors. I plan to help people in low income areas because statistics show they neglect their oral health usually because they aren't educated about how the serious issues that can develop by neglecting proper and professional oral care, or they can't afford oral care services. I would also like to go on mission trips to underserved countries and provide oral healthcare to less fortunate patients.
This scholarship will help me on my path to becoming a dentist because the journey to earning a bachelors degree and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree is an expensive journey. Most dentist complete dental school at least $250,000 in debt. Although the debt is high I still think pursuing a doctorate degree in dentistry is a good idea for me. This scholarship will help me pay for courses, room, board, books, food, and several other needs that will be apart of my college and dental school experience. I will be grateful and appreciative if I receive this dental scholarship. It can also help me determine which college I can afford to attend. With this scholarship I may be able to attend a more prestigious college. It will also take some of my worry away about paying for certain things out of my own pocket. I hope to be a full time student without a job so I can focus on my grades and studying. This scholarship will allow me to pursue my passion in becoming a dentist.
