Hi, my name is Collette Anderson.
I am Introverted by nature and I don’t open up to people easily so I’ve always felt closer to animals.
My cats are my kids and I love helping others with their critter children.
I love to learn and I want to improve the best that I can.
My passion for animals is what led me to Unity College. I’ve been wanting to continue my education since graduating from the animal science program at Bridgerland Technical College.
I’m in the Animal Care and Training program.
I would love to make general care more accessible and affordable in hopes that fewer animals end up back in shelters due to behavioral issues.
I want to see Earth become a utopia for all living creatures.
Even if I don't live that long, sharing knowledge and the passion for that knowledge is one way for that spark to spread.
I am a full-time employee, a full-time student, and I could use all the help I can get to pay for college.
I wish to work in a job I can be proud of and make a positive difference for others.
And if that is not something I can attain then I simply want to provide the best life I can to my furry family members and future ones as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you have a good day.

Windward Spirit Scholarship
Hi, my name is Collette Anderson. Gen Z.
But my sister and I joke that we are honorary Millenials as we grew up with the technology of Gen Y being part of the poverty class.
I grew up in the definition of a broken home.
Another child of the Generation X of divorces.
I grew up in a low-income family as my mom had to work long hours just to support having two girls.
I spent most of my major holidays split between my parents, along with parts of my summers.
And my maternal grandparents spent the better part of my sister’s and my childhood raising us.
I admire both of them, they are parents to me and my sister.
My grandma raised five kids while my grandpa worked in banking.
And even with our generational differences, they have been nothing but supportive and encouraging us to follow our passions.
I visit them weekly and they are the reason I have begun school again aiming to get a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science specializing in Animal Care and Behavior.
I know I would not be where I am today without them.
I have no way to pay for college outside of FAFSA, Personal Loans, and hopefully scholarships.
My drive is I would love to make general care more accessible and affordable in hopes that fewer animals end up back in shelters due to behavioral issues.
I have also been seriously considering a career in animal rescue. Specifically with cats as the state where I live has abhorrent restrictions to the aid of cats. Limiting the Humane Society's abilities to take in cats. I'm thinking of a cat cafe of sorts. Or a bookstore.
If I can make that dream a reality I will do everything I can to promote ways to co-exist with our world; green infrastructure, hydroponic gardens to have in-store grown food, solar power, and also a greenhouse where more produce can be grown and shared with other stores.
I want to see Earth become a utopia for all living creatures.
And even if I don't live that long, sharing knowledge and the passion for that knowledge is one way for that spark to spread.
I have two years of work experience at Zootah, a small Zoo in Logan UT, but I’m now working at Utah State University to help to have a more set schedule to allow flexibility for online school.
I am a full-time employee and a full-time student, with rent prices and inflation I don't earn enough myself to pay for college.
I could use all the help I can get to pay for college.
I'm running out of ideas for what to write about myself as I don't feel there is anything remarkable about myself. I just want to do the best I can with the cards I'm dealt in life. I graduated as Salutatorian from Fast Forward Charter High School in 2017, with the help and support of the teachers, my friends and family.
And in 2016 I accepted a membership with the National Society of High School Scholars.
I am CPR-certified till 2025.
I wish to work in a job I can be proud of and make a positive difference for others.
And if that is not something I can attain then I simply want to provide the best life I can to my furry family members and future ones as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you have a good day.
Girls Ready to Empower Girls
Hi, my name is Collette Anderson. I am Introverted by nature, also aided by anxiety and depression, and I don’t open up to people easily so I’ve always felt closer to animals. My cats are my kids and I love helping others with their critter children.

Book Lovers Scholarship
As your typical bookworm answer, I have many favorites.
But one that opened up my interest in new genera is the novel Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein.
I've never been into Historical fiction. The genres I usually lean towards are Fantasy, Murder Mystery, and Mystery.
Code Name Verity started as a class assignment. We were to pick a historical novel, either fiction or non-fiction, from the books available in class, read a couple of chapters and write a report on what we'd learned so far.
And I picked it purely based on the cover.
It being an assignment it took me more time than I care to admit before I started the reading.
However, when I began reading I could barely bring myself to put the book down.
It is written in first person, focusing on a World War 2 prisoner whose friend was a WAFS flyer.
The author's experience in flying planes along with all the research she put into World War 2 to write the historical fiction novel is incredible to me and made the experience of reading it as if I truly were reading the journal of a World War 2 Prisoner.
It was later followed by a sequel and two prequels that I also enjoyed.
Though Code Name Verity and Rose Underfire remain my favorite of the series.
The reason I choose Code Name Verity is because, if it weren't for that class I would have never delved into that genre, and I would be missing a book I can only say is one of my favorites.
And what I would love for others to take away from this is to not be afraid to try new genres.
Especially if the book seems interesting.
If someone is suggesting a book, there's no harm in beginning to read it, and if you don't like it you don't have to finish it.
But don't turn it down out right as you might find yourself in a world you have never been to.
Thank you for your time.

Ventana Ocean Conservation Scholarship
To Whom It May Concern,
Hello, My name is Collette Anderson. I am a student at Unity College where I am studying for a Degree in Animal Behavior and Training.
I don't know if this is something that you are looking for in this scholarship.
My passion is animals and I want to make knowledge and basic training of animals more affordable and shared to help all animal lovers of all backgrounds.
From a young age, children are taught about The Circle of Life. Whether that be from their parents directly or by the media that they are exposed to.
The top example that comes to mind would be The Lion King. King Mufasa explains to Simba that all life matters and they must protect it. They may eat the antelope but when an animal passes on, thanks to nature's decomposers, their bodies become food for the grass which the herbivores eat. Connecting all living life in a balance.
I believe as adults we tend to forget this connection. Our lives become less focused on learning about the world around us and how to live with it instead of how we can make the world work for us for our convenience.
A good example of this would be our destruction of the oceans' ecosystems.
Destruction may seem like a large exaggeration to most. But if everyone were to look into what happens in the overfishing populations I believe that they would understand why destruction is the best term for it.
I am not saying that fishing is evil. But the extent to which we do is.
For major fishing companies, their concern is supply and demand. They fish for larger supply so they fill more demand.
But when fishing they catch more than just the intended fish, and their nets destroy aquatic habitats where fish find their homes.
Forcing the fish to move or die because they don’t have the resources they need.
This then shortens our ability to reliably depend on them for food as they are both harder to get and their populations dwindle to the point of extinction.
It is the same across the board.
When we industrialize more lands we take away habitats of the organisms there.
Without bees we don’t have enough pollinators to help our plants grow.
With less vegetation, we have fewer herbivores. And with fewer herbivores, we have fewer carnivores.
Which means the balance is broken.
And we need to find a way to fix it.
Thankfully we have many ways we can.
Designate more land for them to thrive
Edit our infrastructure so that they can thrive with us.
Planting trees and gardens on buildings, creating migratory passages for them so they can traverse our world better, and turn to greener and more sustainable energy sources.
Solar Power, Wind Power, Hydro Power, We can focus on the kind that is best suited in areas where it can thrive.
And make sure it is a standard to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
We need to hold large corporations responsible for the damage they are causing and one way to do that is to make sure citizens know what they are doing.
We need not to focus on the cost of fixing our mistakes but to look to a better future.
One where we all can live again within the Great Circle of Life.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Sincerely,
Collette Anderson
Writer for Life Scholarship
Hi, my name is Collette Anderson. I am Introverted by nature and I don’t open up to people easily so I’ve always felt closer to animals. My cats are my kids and I love helping others with their critter children.
I love to learn and I want to improve the best that I can.
I am an ameture hobby writer.
I don't know if I will ever get around to publishing a book but I have shared some of my stories with family and they seem to like them so who knows maybe I have some talent.
I love to write. It is something I do regularly. It helps me work through thoughts and emotions I otherwise don't give myself time to do so.
My passion for animals is what led me to Unity College. I’ve been wanting to continue my education since graduating from the animal science program at Bridgerland Technical College.
I’m in the Animal Care and Training program. I want to learn more to help my critter family members to the best of my ability.
My mom's dog, Rascal, is a good dog with people he's known from when he was a puppy. But he is highly anxious about just about everything. He has my leading drive to pursue more training knowledge so that I can help him overcome his anxieties to where he can comfortably interact with the world.
And I would love to make general care more accessible and affordable in hopes that fewer animals end up back in shelters due to behavioral issues.
I come from a low-income, single-parent household and could use all the help I can get to pay for college.
I'm running out of ideas for what to write about myself as I don't feel there is anything remarkable about myself. I just want to do the best I can with the cards I'm dealt in life. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you have a good day.
My passion is animals and one of my many story ideas is writing stories from the point of view of rescue animals.
A book would highly recommend someone read is Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein. It is one of my favorite Historical fiction novels.
And there are many more I would recommend but I'm not sure how many I can. A recent favorite series is the Tibmer Creek K-9 Mysteries by Margaret Mizushima.
Then there is a series called the Grail Quest Trilogy by Laura Anne Gilman that I've loved to read since elementary school.
