Architecture will never fail to seize my full interest and satisfaction. The pure aesthetic potential of architectural designs is an art I could never see myself passing up. Once I graduate from Arizona State University with a degree in architectural studies, I envision myself bringing my new learnings and potential back to my home town of Pueblo, Colorado. There is no hiding the fact that Pueblo, Colorado is a community in need of improvement in all aspects of sustainability. Without a doubt, Pueblo acquires a great amount of potential; but a complete turn around of a less stable community would require a great amount of work. I can confidently say that the education I will soon receive from Arizona State would prepare me to plan for the beginning stages of creating a community that is considerably better off than ever before. Watching as my designs become a reality has always been one of the main goals I have set for myself. The thought of potentially being able to accomplish this in the town I grew up would be a fascinating accomplishment. As stated before, one of my main goals in life is to accommodate for the needs of others. Although the dream of a boy who accomplishes something in a small town won't make or break architecture, it could definitely be life changing to the town of Pueblo.
If fortunate enough to receive such a generous scholarship, I would be granted the ability to focus on continuing my education without the melancholy thought of debt lingering over my shoulder. Architecture has always been a passion of mine that I would love to study in college. Unfortunately, universities that offer a degree of architecture in Colorado are very limited. But with that said, I see this as more of a blessing in disguise as Arizona State University has always been a dream college of mine. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to attend Arizona State University with less of a doubt about being able to pay for school. Another dream of mine has been to attend a campus as beautiful as Arizona State without having to dread student debt after graduating. Every scholarship that I am awarded gets me closer to living my dream life as a college student. In an attempt to try to achieve this dream student life, I am applying to as many scholarships as I can with hope of achieving this rare but possible goal. I understand that with the robust ambitions and personal standards that I already acquire, the ability to strictly focus on school will help me greatly in achieving my goals through architecture. I envision a life full of success and happiness knowing that I will truly be experiencing the opportunities that others dream of.

As an individual who is always in search of what I can do for the wellbeing of others, the local service activity called Tom and Louie’s Cupboard is by far my favorite as it delivers over 500 food baskets on average to families in need. Tom and Louie’s Cupboard was founded in honor of the late Fathers Thomas Scheets and Louis Stovik, two Catholic priests who were killed in an attack at St. Leander Church in 1996. Since the loss of the two highly regarded community members, the city of Pueblo has come together each year to honor their memory by carrying on their tradition of service. This event identifies families who potentially could use help in supplying a Thanksgiving dinner to their family, and donates and distributes meals to local families. Any additional food left over after the production of 500 baskets is donated to local churches and nonprofits to help feed even more needy families. Local high school students that come together to spearhead the event, put aside all school rivalries in order to make a positive impact on the city. The opportunity to supply a substantial Thanksgiving dinner to families all over Pueblo warms my heart.

Personal standards, robust ambitions and endless dedication towards not only myself, but also those around me, have long fuelled my continual strive for success. I have just recently been awarded the honor of being elected Student Body President of the high school I attend. As a student who believes highly upon the opinion of my peers, I greatly appreciate the trust the whole student body has shown in me in allowing me to lead and advocate for all of Pueblo South High School. The leadership abilities I evidently portray and display to others is an attribute I never want to lose grip of. I take great pride in the way I go about everything I do, and displaying a motivated pursuit of excellence. Furthermore, I have maintained a 4.48 cumulative gpa throughout highschool, and received a 5.0 in the first semester of my senior year. It is evident that my personal standards and ambitions never fail to be present when introduced with a challenge. My achievements to this point have proven that failure is nothing more than a word that the less motivated seem to experience, but is definitely avoidable. Obviously, no person is perfect, but my ability to prove a promising scholar and dedicated leader all while participating in extracurricular activities is something I plan to keep with me through future endeavors. Whenever I am hesitant or unsure of something, I make sure to get the extra help or ask the questions necessary to continuously improve upon my abilities. I understand that the sky's my limit, and with that said, plan to continue and enhance the personal attributes I have put on display to this point.

Personal standards, robust ambitions, and endless dedication towards not only myself, but also those around me, have provoked and enhanced my leadership abilities. I am humbled and honored to have become involved in two mentoring programs both of which require anonymous recommendation by staff to become a part of. The opportunity to potentially accommodate for the hardships or struggles of another individual is a notion I look very highly upon. The STARS and Sources of Strength Monitoring Programs have trained me to build wisdom, and have fulfilled my ambition to provide reassuring socialization and personal support to individuals in search of clarification and comfort. The golden rule principle of treating others as you want to be treated is something I live by as I aspire to become the compassion and respect I want to receive. The opportunity to construct an unbreakable bond with an individual, and potentially change their life is an opportunity I personally could never bypass. Depression, anxiety, and mental illness are frequent amongst the current generation. These dehumanizing effects should not be overlooked as no individual deserves to suffer. The idea of becoming a role model and mentor towards others has truly satisfied my rigorous standards. Furthermore, I have just been elected student body president as a representative of all students who attend South High School. This opportunity allows me to continuously display my leadership abilities, and work towards a more desirable school environment for all students. Although my possibilities are limited due to the tragic pandemic, I greatly look forward to representing the beautiful student body and staff that my school acquires. Being elected to advocate through representation, and articulating the needs, desires, and interests of South High School allows for continuation of my leadership abilities to be put on display.
