My name is Clifford Kipchirchir. I am bilingual and aspire to pursue a career in healthcare and STEM to become a future doctor. I am currently pursuing an associate's degree in biology at Amarillo College. I am passionate about making a difference in people's lives and being a part of the Medicine program has allowed me to develop strong skills and a better understanding of patient care. I am dedicated to learning and being able to provide quality care to individuals of all backgrounds.
As an international student, I have faced unique challenges along my educational journey. Adapting to a new culture, being far away from family and friends, and navigating a different education system are some of the hardships I have encountered. However, these challenges have only made me stronger, fueling my determination to succeed in my educational journey. I have developed virtues such as resilience, patience, and a strong sense of independence, which I believe are in line with Medicine.
I remain committed to my studies despite all the obstacles that come my way because I am determined to make a positive impact in the healthcare field.

When a potter molds clay to their heart's desire, it becomes a masterpiece; when an individual molds their life to their desires, it is the educational dream. The College dream is unique to each individual as it takes shape after the originator's heart. The clay that I mold for my life is to become a physician who empowers and welcomes the most marginalized individuals through medicine and advocacy - this is my definition of the American dream. My parents immigrated to the U.S., and as poor non-English-speaking immigrants, their lives were filled with challenges. I would hear my father's alarm go off at 4:45 AM as he got ready for work. During the day, he worked at a dry cleaner, and at night he worked as a janitor, coming home past 10:00 PM. There was one place, however, where their worries subsided: doctor's office. Understanding immigrants' obstacles, took the time to listen to its patients and build patient relationships. As a kid, watching my parents find hope and calm as they spoke with the Doctor, I became curious about the possibilities of medicine - the potential of medicine thrilled me. Understanding that at the core of a physician was a heart to help others and a commitment to life-long learning, I sought opportunities to volunteer in underserved communities while pursuing my education. In one neighborhood I served, there was a tree with teddy bears hanging from it. I was appalled to learn that each bear symbolized the loss of a child's life by gun violence. Reflecting on these service experiences, I realized how larger system issues of social injustice can lead to health disparities in our communities. As my parents often hesitated to see a physician because of financial and accessibility issues, many families in these neighborhoods were not well connected to the healthcare system. Therefore, I want to become a physician who addresses my patients' health concerns and takes the time to recognize and care for patients' social, economic, and racial disparities. My journey to medicine, however, has not been so easy. As an undocumented and first-generation student, navigating the complex college application process was challenging. Colleges often viewed me as an international student and required me to pay international tuition, which my family could not afford. It was only by applying for scholarships and working to save since I was 16 that I was gratefully able to attend Amarillo in college, I continued to work and translate for immigrant families as I pursued the pre-med track while majoring in Biology. Through my challenges, I learned that through perseverance and determination, I could pave a path to pursue my goals even if it seemed near impossible. Though the odds may not be in my favor because of my citizen status, I believe I can mold my life into my American dream with enough persistence, resilience, and dedication.
American Dream Scholarship
The AMERICAN DREAM
The American Dream: Money, success, and Home. The American Dream changes over time, always based on society. In the 40`s and 50`s the American Dream was to have a white picket fence, a dog a two-parent home, and a couple of children. Today, it's a little bit different, it's about having money, cars, fame, and success. The things I would have to say would never change about the American dream and what it consists of.
The American dream that consists of money I would have to say is because in today`s society money talks. The more money you have, the more power you have. Money and power are what bring some advantages in America. It allows you to get your house, cars, and connections (the people you know). In today`s society money and power tend to make you think you`re invincible and at another time, you are.
With money and power, you are not keeping a secret that brings fame and success. In everything we do, we are told to succeed. Whether be sports, education, and our jobs. So, it wouldn`t be a wonder that being successful and known would be part of the American Dream.
Although gaining success would mean reaching a personal goal and gaining money and power, success will not get you the last thing the American Dream consists of...a Home. Through all the years and times one thing has continued to be wanted and dreamed up, and that is home. Not a house, not a mansion, but a home. A home made up of love, care, and kindness. Everybody dreams of having a home with a moderate-sized family filled with love and compassion. A secure, serene, and yet free environment.
In conclusion, The American Dream has changed over time, but some things still stand out to have money, success, and a home. Money to gain power and with that money and power comes success and fame. All those things will never get you home though. Society says The American Dream you should have almost nothing but money, big mansions, and a whole bunch of cars. American Dream is just as valid as it was when it was founded, depending on whom you are and what you do for a living, it may be more achievable to some than others. This country still has its freedom and equality for all people, and chances today for jobs of all kinds. People will always have dreams of being successful and it has been that way for hundreds of years. It may not be heard of as much today to have a dream of being independent or equal with others, but is still thought about, especially for people who are discriminated against, whether it is race, religion, politics, or sexual preference. Even though it may mean something different to everyone, I believe that it's still valid in the United States because people will always have that one dream that they want to fulfill in their lives.

My name is Clifford Kipchirchir, and I am currently pursuing an associate's degree in biology at Amarillo College. I aspire to become a medical researcher, driven by a deep curiosity about the human body and a burning desire to contribute to scientific advancements. However, the high cost of a PhD medical program presents a significant hurdle in my journey.
My interest in medicine began while caring for my diabetic father, sparking a passion for understanding the intricate mechanisms of the human body and the potential to alleviate suffering through medical breakthroughs. I developed a new awareness of healthy eating habits and portion control. His daily struggles with diabetes motivated and inspired me to learn more about diabetes management. Sharing this experience has strengthened our relationship, and I am more involved in managing his condition.
Amarillo College's associate's degree program in Biology has provided a strong foundation for my scientific exploration. The coursework has cultivated critical thinking and equipped me with the necessary laboratory skills. Beyond academics, I have sought opportunities to broaden my healthcare exposure by volunteering at Amarillo Community Care Center, witnessing the dedication of medical professionals and the profound impact they have on patients' lives. Through interactions with patients and their families, I have gained a deeper understanding of the human side of medicine. I witnessed their struggles and triumphs, which instilled a strong sense of compassion in me. Volunteering provided a real-world experience that complements classroom learning; seeing medicine in action has solidified my passion and given me a stronger sense of purpose.
My ultimate goal is to pursue a PhD medical program, integrating patient care with research endeavors. I envision myself at the forefront of medical discovery, translating scientific knowledge into tangible solutions that improve patient outcomes. The rigorous curriculum of the PhD medical program perfectly aligns with my desire to excel in both clinical practice and research.
The financial burden of a PhD program is a substantial obstacle, but my determination is unwavering. I am actively researching scholarship opportunities and financial aid programs to bridge the gap. I am confident that my academic achievements and work ethic will make me a strong candidate for scholarships and grants.
I am committed to excellence in academic research, and my journey at Amarillo College has fostered a love for learning and a thirst for knowledge. With continued dedication and the support of scholarships, I believe I can turn my aspiration of becoming a medical researcher into a reality.

Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a medical doctor. I have been responsible for taking care of my diabetic father since I graduated from high school. In high school, I participated in the Red Cross club and biology. I realized I needed to pursue an eight-year education program that began the Spring 2024 semester to reach my goals. I am very excited about my future, and I feel that with the opportunity your scholarship will provide, I can help many patients.
My passion for medicine has been encouraged by family and friends. I have had the opportunity to volunteer at a local care center and provide basic care to the elderly. I have learned to take everything seriously and put in all my efforts to complete tasks. My family stressed the importance of becoming a good influence; to becoming a good role model by teaching my younger family members proper manners and guiding them in academics so that they can do well. In school, I guide my peers in organizing team uniform design and networking with nonprofit organizations for service events.
In the future, I hope to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor by attaining an MD. I intend to study at Texas Tech University as a Biological Sciences major, where I anticipate being extremely involved with the student community. After graduation, I plan to develop a strong network relationship with Harrington Permanente. By developing a network with them I hope to work in one of their facilities someday. While I may have a strong love for the medical field, my interest in Business immensely grew as I soon discovered that I did not only have to take the practical approach in the medical field. With this interest, I plan to also become part of the medical facility Management team. Unfortunately, my family cannot afford to pay for my education, so I hope to use the Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship to help me pay for college.
Your organization stands for what I believe in. Like your organization, I hope to help patients for the rest of my life. To reach my goals I need as much help as possible. I already have the moral support of my family and friends, but it is not quite enough to make my dream come true. I hope that your organization can help me reach this dream by awarding me your scholarship.

MY JOURNEY TO MEDICAL SCHOOL AS A FIRST-GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENT
Growing up in a low-income family, the dream of attending college seemed distant. My parents, despite their limited means, worked tirelessly to provide for our family. Their sacrifices, coupled with my personal experiences growing up in a family with a history of diabetes, have shaped my decision to pursue a career in medicine.
Living in a low-income household presented numerous challenges. Our family often relied on credit to make ends meet, and the burden of debt was a constant presence. The struggle was not just financial; it was also emotional. The stress of our financial situation often cast a shadow over our family’s happiness. However, these hardships instilled in me a sense of resilience and a determination to break the cycle of poverty.
Being the first in my family to attend college is both an honor and a challenge. On one hand, I carry the hopes and dreams of my family. On the other hand, navigating the college application process without much guidance was daunting. Despite these challenges, the joy and pride on my parents’ faces when I received my college acceptance letter made all the hard work worthwhile.
My family’s history with diabetes has given me a personal understanding of the impact of health issues on individuals and families. Witnessing the struggles that my family members have faced has motivated me to pursue a career in medicine. I aspire to contribute to finding better treatments, or even a cure, for diabetes.
As I prepare to embark on my college journey, I am filled with a sense of purpose. I am aware of the challenges that lie ahead, but I am ready to face them head-on. I am driven by the desire to make a difference in the healthcare field and to make my family proud. I am committed to making a positive impact on the world. I plan to use my education to serve underserved communities, providing quality healthcare and working towards the prevention and management of diseases like diabetes. I also aim to advocate for policies that improve healthcare accessibility and affordability for low-income families.
In conclusion, my journey to medical school as a first-generation college student from a low-income family has been marked by challenges. However, these challenges have shaped me into a resilient individual. They have motivated me to pursue a career in medicine, driven by the desire to improve healthcare for individuals like my family members who have been affected by diabetes. This journey has just begun, and I am excited about the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead.

My Aspirations in Biomedical Science
As an undergraduate student newly enrolled in biomedical science, I am often asked why I have chosen to pursue a career in healthcare. The answer is both simple and complex. It is rooted in my desire to make a difference, my fascination with the human body, and my hope to play a role in preventing illness.
From a young age, I have always been driven by a desire to help others. This desire has manifested itself in various ways throughout my life, from volunteering at local community centers to tutoring my peers in school. As I grew older, this desire evolved into a passion for healthcare. I realized that through a career in healthcare, I could make a significant impact on people’s lives, helping them when they are most vulnerable and in need.
My decision to pursue biomedical science was also influenced by my fascination with the human body. The complexity and intricacy of our biological systems astound me. Every cell, every organ, and every system work in harmony to keep us alive and healthy. Studying biomedical science allows me to delve deeper into this fascinating world, to understand how our bodies function, and how disease disrupts this delicate balance.
Prevention is better than cure. This age-old adage holds true today more than ever. With the rise of chronic diseases and the ongoing threat of pandemics, the importance of preventive healthcare cannot be overstated. As a biomedical scientist, I hope to contribute to this field by researching and developing new strategies for disease prevention. This could involve studying the genetic factors that make individuals more susceptible to certain diseases or investigating the impact of lifestyle factors on health.
In conclusion, my decision to pursue a career in healthcare is driven by my desire to make a difference, my fascination with the human body, and my hope to contribute to the prevention of illness. I am excited about the journey ahead and look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in my pursuit of a career in biomedical science.
Communication and leadership skills are significant in every doctor’s attitude. I was the representative of my class in the last year and projects leader. My friends prefer to talk to me about their problems because I am a good listener. I always give them advice to improve and get over their problems. Furthermore, I am considerably empathetic and passionate about helping others. I participated in many awareness campaigns which included informing elderly people how to avoid many diseases such as diabetes. It also included spreading awareness about the risks of several traditional medicine methods. I am entirely flexible in my life; I can adapt to sudden changes that may occur. In my free time I love to play football. I regularly exercise and workout at the gym. I am aware of keeping my body healthy and fit. Spending time with friends and family is a huge deal for me and I really enjoy sitting with them. I also watch series and movies. My Favorite genre is horror. The United States was my choice because its medicine course is one of the top courses worldwide. It is also diverse in cultures and respects each nationality and religion. It also has a great history of affording studies to international students from all over the planet. In the future, I want to graduate with high grades from university. After graduating, I aim to be a successful doctor with a great reputation.

Dream Career: My Aspiration to Be a doctor.
To discuss my future career, in this essay I'm going to describe how I've decided to become a doctor and why this career fits me perfectly. Since I was young, my mother kept motivating and encouraging me to become a doctor. This was her dream. At the time, this dream was not only my mother’s dream, but it also became my dream too. Since then, medicine has become my only passion, and I cannot imagine myself doing any other field. Everything related to medicine interests me. The deep curiosity about the human body increases my interest in studying it. How doctors treat people and have greater understanding of illnesses and their causes fascinates me to be part of this remarkable medical society. Being a doctor is something which I highly appreciate. This profession is globally recognized and working in this career offers me the chance to help people directly and witness their smiles. I will also be widely needed on the job market. Furthermore, my career will be more stable, safer and socially appreciated. Studying medicine is a heavy duty that a person can handle. I think that I have the required skills and abilities which qualifies me to become a successful student and a future doctor. From an academic approach, in my high school studies I got the highest grades in my school. Chemistry and Biology are the most important subjects in medicine and my grades in these subjects are 99% and 97% respectively.

Overcoming Obstacles and Demonstrating Leadership: A Personal Journey
Life is a journey filled with challenges and opportunities. It is through overcoming these challenges that we grow as individuals and leaders. This essay recounts a time when I overcame obstacles and how I demonstrated leadership in my life.
During my sophomore year in college, I was elected as the president of the student council. It was a role I was excited about, but it came with its fair share of challenges. The most significant was dealing with a budget cut that threatened many student programs.
The news of the budget cut was met with disappointment and frustration. However, instead of giving up, I saw it as an opportunity to innovate. I initiated a series of fundraisers and reached out to alumni for donations. It was a daunting task, but I was determined to ensure that no student program was discontinued due to lack of funds.
Leadership is not just about holding a position; it's about making a difference. As a leader, I knew I had to lead by example. I was the first to arrive at every fundraiser and the last to leave. I also made it a point to keep the council and the student body updated about our progress. My actions inspired others, and together, we were able to raise enough funds to sustain all student programs.
The experience taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, teamwork, and leadership. It showed me that obstacles are not dead ends but detours to a better path. Most importantly, it reinforced my belief in the power of community and collective effort.
Education is a powerful tool for change. It fosters critical thinking, nurtures creativity, and empowers individuals to become agents of change. My education has not only equipped me with knowledge but also instilled in me a sense of responsibility towards my community.
My career goal is to work in the field of sustainable development. Kenya, like many other developing countries, faces challenges such as poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation. I aim to address these issues by promoting sustainable practices that balance economic growth with environmental conservation.
In conclusion, overcoming obstacles and demonstrating leadership are integral parts of personal growth. They shape us into resilient individuals and effective leaders. As I continue my journey, I am confident that the lessons I learned will guide me in overcoming future challenges and leading with empathy and determination.

Educational inequality is a pervasive issue affecting our community and country. It refers to the disparate access to quality education based on socioeconomic status, race, or geographic location. This inequality perpetuates a cycle of poverty and limits opportunities for those affected.
In the United States, public schools are primarily funded by local property taxes. This funding model inherently favors wealthier districts, leading to a significant disparity in the quality of education. Students in low-income areas often attend under-resourced schools, limiting their academic and future career prospects.
To address this issue, I would start by volunteering in local schools and after-school programs. These initiatives provide additional academic support to students and can help bridge the educational gap. I would also advocate for policies that promote educational equity, such as increased funding for schools in low-income areas.
Creating a positive change requires collective effort. I would organize community meetings to raise awareness about educational inequality and its long-term implications. By engaging parents, teachers, and community leaders, we can collectively advocate for policy changes.
At the policy level, I would lobby for reforms in the public-school funding model. A more equitable distribution of resources can significantly improve the quality of education in low-income areas. Additionally, policies promoting school diversity can expose students to different perspectives and foster a more inclusive learning environment.
Educational inequality is a complex issue with far-reaching implications. However, through personal involvement, community engagement, and policy advocacy, we can work towards a more equitable education system. By ensuring that every child has access to quality education, we can create a more inclusive and prosperous society.
Mental health stigma is a pervasive issue affecting our community and country. It refers to the negative attitudes and misconceptions surrounding mental health conditions. This stigma often leads to discrimination and can deter individuals from seeking help.
Despite the prevalence of mental health conditions, many people are reluctant to seek help due to the fear of being stigmatized. This fear is often rooted in misconceptions about mental health, such as the belief that mental health conditions are a sign of weakness or are self-inflicted.
## Personal Involvement
To address this issue, I would start by educating myself and others about mental health. Understanding the nature of mental health conditions and the importance of seeking help is the first step towards breaking down the stigma.
Creating a positive change requires collective effort. I would organize community events to raise awareness about mental health and the importance of mental health care. By engaging community members, we can collectively challenge the stigma and create a more supportive environment for individuals dealing with mental health conditions.
## Policy Advocacy
At the policy level, I would advocate for mental health education in schools and workplaces. Education can dispel misconceptions and promote understanding. Additionally, I would lobby for policies that protect individuals with mental health conditions from discrimination.
Mental health stigma is a complex issue with far-reaching implications. However, through personal involvement, community engagement, and policy advocacy, we can work towards a more inclusive and understanding society. By ensuring that everyone feels comfortable seeking help, we can create a healthier and happier community.
AI Innovators Undergraduate Scholarship
1.Artificial Intelligence (AI) has always fascinated me. Its potential to revolutionize the world we live in and solve complex problems is what drew me to it.

This initial curiosity led me to delve deeper into the field, exploring various aspects of AI such as machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics.
During my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to work on several AI-related projects. One of my most memorable experiences was developing a machine-learning model to predict stock prices. This project not only allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge but also taught me valuable skills such as data preprocessing, model training, and result interpretation.
In addition to academic projects, I also completed an internship at a tech company where I worked on improving the accuracy of their recommendation system. This real-world experience further solidified my interest in AI and gave me insights into the practical challenges faced when implementing AI systems.
Looking ahead, my goal is to leverage my passion for AI to drive innovation and make a positive impact on society. After graduation, I aspire to work at a leading tech company where I can contribute to cutting-edge AI research. In the long term, I aim to lead my team and work on projects that can solve real-world problems using AI.
In conclusion, my journey with AI has been a rewarding one. My experiences have not only fueled my interest in AI but have also shaped my career aspirations. As I look forward to a future filled with advancements in AI, I am excited about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
2Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized numerous fields, including data analysis. My journey with AI began when I embarked on a research project aimed at developing a predictive model for stock market prices.
The stock market is notoriously unpredictable, with prices influenced by a myriad of factors. The challenge was to develop a model that could accurately predict future stock prices based on historical data.
To tackle this problem, I used machine learning, a subset of AI that involves training a model to learn patterns from data. Specifically, I used a type of machine learning called deep learning, which mimics the human brain's neural networks to process data and create patterns for decision-making.
The first step was to collect historical stock market data. After preprocessing the data to make it suitable for the model, I divided it into training and testing sets. The training set was used to train the model, while the testing set was used to evaluate its performance.
I then designed and trained a deep-learning model using the training data. Once the model was trained, I tested its performance on the testing data.
The outcome was a deep learning model capable of predicting stock market prices with reasonable accuracy. While not perfect, the model's predictions were significantly better than random guessing.

Adversity is an inevitable part of life. It is a crucible where our strength, resilience, and character are tested. However, it is not the adversity itself that defines us, but how we respond to it. Adversity is a universal human experience that can be particularly intense in the demanding field of pharmacy. However, it is through overcoming adversity that individuals often experience significant personal growth, develop resilience, and find the determination to succeed.
In my life, I have faced numerous challenges. Each one was a mountain that seemed insurmountable at the time. However, with each challenge, I learned something new about myself and the world around me. Adversity can be a catalyst for profound personal growth. In the face of challenges, individuals are pushed out of their comfort zones, forcing them to confront and overcome their weaknesses. This process can lead to the development of new skills and a deeper understanding of oneself. In the context of pharmacy, this growth can manifest as improved problem-solving abilities, enhanced communication skills, and a deeper understanding of patient care.
One of the most significant adversities I faced was when I lost my job due to company-wide layoffs. The sudden loss of income and the uncertainty of what lay ahead was daunting. However, instead of succumbing to despair, I chose to view this setback as an opportunity for growth. Resilience is not an innate trait but is developed over time through experiences and challenges. It is the ability to bounce back from setbacks and adapt to change. In the field of pharmacy, resilience can be seen in the ability to handle high-stress situations, make critical decisions under pressure, and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of healthcare.
I took this time to reassess my career goals and explore new possibilities. I enrolled in online courses to learn new skills and broaden my horizons. This period of adversity became a period of self-discovery and personal development. Overcoming adversity often requires a high level of determination. This determination can fuel the pursuit of a career in pharmacy. The path to becoming a pharmacist is filled with challenges - rigorous academic coursework, demanding internships, and high-stakes examinations. The determination forged in the face of adversity can provide the drive needed to navigate these challenges successfully.
Through this experience, I learned that adversity can be a catalyst for change and growth. It forced me out of my comfort zone and made me reassess my priorities. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of maintaining a positive outlook even in the face of hardship.
In conclusion, overcoming adversity is about more than just enduring hard times. It's about learning from these experiences, growing as an individual, and emerging stronger on the other side. Adversity can be a powerful teacher if we choose to learn from it.

Environment is one of the most important aspects in our lives, we can’t live without it. If we compare it from before and after we can see the biggest difference from now. Keep trashing plastics everywhere, cutting trees, and air pollution, are the things we did. But beside of that, there are some of us who really cares for the Environment, it is very useless if there’s a person who really loves to care but there’s a person who are careless to it. People should realize the importance of it before it’s too late.
We can appreciate things if it is not available. We can still re-plant but it’s very late to plant trees when we have climate change and we are the cause of the opposite of it. We know that there are so many stepsto keep the Environment clean and be compared to before, as I end this, I would like to encourage you to keep catchy, clean, and greeny in comes of our environment. Appreciate it, because it has a big help for you to keep you alive and healthy. So let us be the inspiration to others. Be the example and be the idolized to others and TOGETHER let’s clean and keep the environment clean.
The message I would leave at the top of the mountain; You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen.

Volunteering enables an individual to make a positive impact on his or her community, while empowering the individual to better his or her life. This summer, I had the opportunity to volunteer at many diverse locations. From the hospital to the local library, I truly value my experience and treasure everything it has thought me. Volunteering lets us experience and learn things that we otherwise would not have learned; volunteering opens doors for us that we may not have been able to open before. Volunteering provides us with guidance and tolerance which we may use in the future to aid us in our decisions. At first glance, volunteering may seem to only benefit those who are helped, but on a deeper level, one can realize that volunteering benefits the volunteer as much as, if not more than, those who are helped. Not only does volunteering make a difference in one’s community, but it also helps the volunteer become a smarter, happier, friendlier and more caring individual.
Volunteering enables a person to develop new skills that he or she would otherwise not have been able to develop. Unlike most other organizations, a charitable organization is happy to give positions to passionate, though inexperienced, individuals who desire to help others and benefit the community. Therefore, an individual with little experience in a field of work can gain meaningful skills that he or she can use in the future. For example, while I volunteered at the hospital this summer, I learned about the daily work lives and professional duties of doctors and nurses. Had I not volunteered, I would not have learned about these things. I highly recommend volunteering to anyone, because of all the great things it will teach and because of the positive impacts it make on one’s life. Volunteering will teach an individual many of life’s greatest lessons, and lets an individual grow into a better person. Volunteering teaches to let go of their ignorance and false notions of world problems and lets the volunteer learn about the real, and sometimes unattractive, condition of people in the world. Many people think that one person cannot make a difference in the world, but volunteering teaches a person to at least try to make a difference in one person’s
Specifically, it helps a person learn how to communicate with co-workers and peers. Therefore, volunteering strengthens social skills and teaches people to interact (Segal and Robinson). It is clear that teaching social skills through volunteering helps a business to function. Additionally, volunteering helps a person work on adaption to their surroundings. Specifically, it can help a person adapt into a new field of work. Overall, learning how to adapt is an essential function of life and helps the flow and functions in and out of an office. Furthermore, a person who volunteers can experience different types of jobs without long-term commitment.
A reflection of my volunteering experience can be summarized in two words: Life-changing. It is hard to explain the feelings that occur when you involve yourself in selfless acts for your community, such as volunteering. There is a feeling in your heart that you cannot ignore, maybe it is the happiness you feel or the overflow of emotions in helping others. In other words, it is a feeling in which you want to share with others. Maybe with a friend, maybe a classmate, maybe a family member, or maybe even a stranger. Either way, spreading how life-changing volunteering can be is a great start to making a positive change in your community by simply by involving others.

I always believed that hacking was a bad thing done by malicious people. I now realize that thought there are bad hackers, many hackers follow an ethical code when acquiring information and deciding what to make of it. I have been able to pursue a lot of information largely in part because of hackers. As Cross says, “academic freedom should be restricted only as an absolute last resort, not as the fundamental basis of our national strategies for security and technological development in the 21st century” (Cross, 40) and after reading this article, I have both a new definition and appreciation for
Although there are numerous skills, resources, and knowledge needed in completing a given research, I believe I uphold some of them, and they will serve as a guide in enabling me to complete this research. Having the necessary skills and resources is crucial since it lays a foundation for one to constantly improve themselves in areas that are not perfect. One of the essential research skills that I have relates to goal setting. Goal setting is vital in research since it gives one an idea of the final outcome of research. Goal setting is not only limited to one thing since it involves various aspects such as proper time management, planning, and organization. Being organized is vital in research since it helps one stick to the intended purpose of research, preventing one from making mistakes. The other essential skills that I possess relate to data collection. My data collection skills go beyond observing and conducting interviews. Being able to gather a wide range of facts and information from the internet has often helped me fulfill my data collection needs. The last important skill that I possess relates to proper report writing. When instructed to write, I can effectively use the required format, include a summary if needed, proofreading and sticking to the initial goal.
Having the relevant resources in research is equally a crucial element. Some of the resources that I already have include capital and support networks from different people. Effectively managing my capital will help me ensure that no aspect of the research is not fulfilled. Support networks will help me go a long way in completing this project since they will give me crucial information, especially during interviews.
Lastly, having sufficient knowledge will also help me include the necessary information related to the subject matter. Since I know how to gather information from the internet, I will use this knowledge in finding the relevant information from the internet, searching for the pertinent questions related to the topic, and exploring deeper options for solving a given subject matter.
Netflix and Scholarships!
As for ideas on what a final project should look like, I wanted to try and make it something that I had never done before while also incorporating my favorite Netflix series Stranger Things. With a partner, I want to put together a pool of ideas and topics to be able to pull from during the podcast. The goal is to make the conversation as casual and realistic as possible, while maintaining a focus on the show and key events that occured. Additionally, to reduce spoilers, keeping the discussion is relation to the first season would be best for those who would listen to the podcast. Moreover, it would be interesting to have one of the two people doing the podcast to be one who believes the rumors or conspiraces going around Hawkins.
Another piece of the plot in Stranger Things concerns the possible conspiracy that developed as a result of Will’s supposed body that was found in the quarry. While it does seem likely that the body that was found could very well be Will’s especially considering that nothing this bizarre has occurred in Hawkins in quite some time, and as a result, most people in Hawkins, including Will’s older brother Jonathan, have absolutely no reason to even consider that someone could be hiding the truth. Hopper, however, does maintain suspicion about the Research Laboratory, evren going as far to find the body that was dredged up from the quarry and discovering that it was cotton-stuffed.
Concerning the Upside-Down, and its connection to Hawkins Lab, viewers come to learn of methods on entering it as well as that the demogorgon may have come from it.
Fifth Estate’s 40th episode, “the interrogation room”, essentially analyzes a murder case that occurred on November the third on 2006; the case revolves the shooting and death of a male named Mervyn “Mikey” Spence, who attending an Eric ‘Action’ Morgan’s birthday party. The case was investigated over the course of four years in which the Peel Police had made arrests, but through the use of controversial interrogation methods, were redirected to charge and imprison an innocent man, Morgan. The video further shows how strong alibis and witnesses recanted their statements after the interrogators held them for several hours being threatened and
Imagine a perfectly ripe Granny Smith apple. Famished, you bite into it, expecting a crisp, juicy crunch. Instead, it's soggy. Acidic. Different. Confused, you reel back to view the apple's interior: it's not an opaque, light green, it's a glistening orange. The fruit, at least on the inside, is an orange. Your bite, the act of diving into the fruit, revealed a deeper layer, something not expected, something that simply staring at the surface could have never revealed. That is how Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner work.
Throughout the episode there are a variety of technology used to help the investigators prove that there is a ghost present. Grant Wilson, the co-founder of TAPS “hopes to prove that paranormal investigation is a worthwhile science” (“Altoona Tantrum.”). The team utilizes a lot of high tech equipment when investigating a haunt. They typically must adapt equipment used for other purposes to fit their paranormal needs. Some of the devices they use include: wireless cameras, electronic voice phenomena (EVP) devices and electronic magnetic field (EMF) devices. It seems that the primary goal for many of the investigators and those who watch the show is to gain physical, recorded evidence that either confirms or denies the existence of ghost and therefore proves the existence of life after death.

Frank and Patty Skerl Educational Scholarship for the Physically Disabled
Disabled people are people who have mental or physical limitation so they depend on someone to support them in doing their daily life needs and jobs. Although disabled people are a minority and they are normally ignored, they are still a part of the society. The statistics show that the proportion of disabled people in the world rose from 10 percent in the seventies of the last century to 15 percent so far. The number of handicapped exceeds a billion people all over the world, occupied about 15 percent of the world's population, as a result of an aging population and the increase in chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, blood and psychological diseases that are related with disabilities and impairments. Every five seconds someone…show more content…
And a disabled person’s ambition is like all other human beings, the looks of pity and compassion negatively affect that ambition. People should embrace the disabled person and give them a helping hand, and they should have laws, which defend their rights, which should be respected. However, most societies do not have laws that ensure an equal life for the disabled population. It is a shame that the rights of the disabled people has turned many times to mere slogans.
The disability rights movement is the movement to secure equal opportunities and equal rights for people with disabilities. The specific goals and demands of the movement are: accessibility and safety in transportation, architecture, and the physical environment; equal opportunities in independent living, employment, education, and housing; and freedom from abuse, neglect, and violations of patients' rights. Effective civil rights legislation is sought in order to secure these opportunities and rights.
The family’s visions of a typical life for their children can come true. All parents want their children to be accepted by their peers, have friends and live “regular” lives. Inclusive settings can make this vision a reality for many children with disabilities. Children develop a positive understanding of themselves and others. When they attend classes that reflect the similarities and differences of people in the real world, they learn to appreciate diversity. It is not possible to reach broad conclusions about all students with disabilities, and even within groupings, caution should be exercised. Distinctions between categories of disability are not absolute. There is a wide range of severity, with and without co-occurring conditions. It is necessary to consider some broad groupings of students with somewhat similar conditions to understand their needs and the services they require. Respect and understanding will be notice when children of differing disabilities and cultures play and learn together. Friendship may also develop. Schools are important places for children to develop friendships and learn social skills. Children with and without disabilities learn with and from each other in inclusive classes.

Love Olivia and love this album! She's developing a great girly pop meets riot girl sound, and I'm loving hearing those grudge punk vibes coming back into, she's really not holding back or taking herself too seriously, and it's working! My favourite track first listen is probably "Making the Bed." The only track that falls fort for me is "Illogical," as I feel like the same feelings were portrayed in a cooler and less cheesy way in another one of the tracks, "Love is Embarrassing."
I actually like this album,it just reaffirms that. Yes it's juvenile and immature, but she's bringing a teenage spirit to a genre (rock) that has been sorely lacking it for arguably decades. I'm just so happy as someone raised on rock that there's an exciting young mega mainstream pop star that's just full on making a rock album. Also hearing a mainstream pop artist occasionally leave in some off-pitch vocals and even intentionally sing off-pitch is such a breath of fresh air in an era where everyone is much too scared to not sound "perfect". Olivia and the team around her actually know what the fuck is up, and it gives her music a sense of confidence. I think Olivia's lyrics and her vocal persona are so impressive for her age-- she comes across as smart and self-aware in a way that makes it easy to connect with her songs even if you're older than her. I think she's talented, and don't anticipate that she fades away anytime soon.
The self awareness and HUMOUR in her writing is what makes her sound and lyrics have that ‘it’ factor. I can’t wait to see how her writing develop through her career. I don’t even like pop punk but I really like GUTS and feel like she’s carving out her own sound and niche more Love Olivia and love this album! She's developing a great girly pop meets riot girl sound, and I'm loving hearing those 90s grudge punk vibes coming back into today's mainstream!!An album two years in the making that disappoints all around. When the cover art for "Guts" was released, it was clear that Olivia did not want to stray away from what she knew worked for her.
A common critique I am seeing is that Olivia is still “tangled in her teen angst instead of growing up.” This is disappointing to read as that is what the entire message of this album is attempting to get at—you can take your time. You don’t have to be what everyone else thinks you should be. You don’t have to give everyone what they want out of you. Giving into the societal pressure to grow up is what kills our joy as adults. This album actually reflects Olivia’s great maturity at her age. “Teenage Dream” shows she is acutely self-aware of not yet, “growing up” as she states, “when I will I stop beyond wise beyond my years and just start being wise” Don’t you think someone that is aware enough to write something like that is, in fact, wise enough to write more “sophisticated” and “intelligent” music? Absolutely. But she chooses not to. And that is what makes her so great. By the way, just note—it’s actually what Taylor Swift has done, deliberately choosing not to be what everyone wanted her to be. And that is why she has seen the unprecedented success she has had. I think if Olivia just improves her lyrical craft, she might be able to get there too.

MY ODE TO MILLENNIALS
Millennials Connor cell phone carrying media consumed, half-dressed, trophy children these are just a few characterizations assigned to the child children born around the stand of the century AKA the students currently attending reality.
As a millennial, I am constantly exposed to the critics of my generation through the mouth of my elders and the pain of my fellow climbs there are hundreds of columns published with the sole intent of slamming our generation, and frankly, I am sick of hearing it. Like many of you, I am all too familiar with the pit-filled comments from adults that tend to go along the lines of," When I was your age I had fun. I didn`t have my head buried in a device," and my dad's favorite," when I was your age, I walked to school, uphill both ways."Whatever the rhetoric is adults like to remind us that their generation is, and their experience growing up was far better than ours.
Well, I agree that my coming-of-age experience was far different than that of my parents, I refused to accept that it was anyone's poster I had my phone by 7th grade and "surfing the Internet" has long been a familiar phrase in my vocabulary, But those details of my youth never depleted my happiness. With our phone, I can communicate with my friends who live miles away, I can celebrate an amazing woman by posting a picture commemorating it and I have access to unlimited information. Our perspective on technology is different from that over patterns because we have grown up around it and around and are familiar with the world land and technology common to us Common technology is just another aspect of everyday life it is not an evil thing that attacked us and left us dependent, obsessed and vulnerable.
Along with being technologically dependent, Millennials are often portrayed as potentially dependent, and therefore, lead first This characterization bothers me the most, as I have witnessed firsthand the persistence and hard work that teenagers are capable of, Often, adults are frightened by the size of my textbooks and shocked at the amount of time I spend doing homework. The workloads of the teenagers received in high school today, and the repercussions for not doing our work, are seemingly worse than they were 20 years ago so lazy people exist in every generation.
Maybe my rating of the column challenges the way today's managers are labeled fathers I am a millennial neither who refuses to exact criticism and warns that what people think about them will do nothing about it. However common as someone who watched a 45-year-old man have a temper tantrum in a restaurant because he and his family had been waiting for 25 minutes for a table and that couple had just arrived at a good table, it is hard for me to accept that the generation I grew up in will forever dictate how I behave and I treat other people. My hope for health students is that we will rise above the expectation of how millennials are expected to live and bear and if we can do that we can always refer back to the old excuse," You people raised us."

My name is Clifford Kipchirchir Langat, I am a college freshman attending West Texas A&M University and have spent most of my childhood on the wrong medication. I experienced a problem common to clinical psychology _misdiagnosis. professionals provided diagnoses for me for many reasons from antidequated testing methods to limited education want to open y own psychological testing facility and help change that. Therefore I planning to pursue, a biology major that would lead the way to Clinical Neuropsychology.
The value of education is something that I have understood since a very young age. Neither of my parents had an opportunity to attend college and faced many struggles in their personal and professional lives because of this. They committed early in my life to do everything within their power and instilled in me a love of learning and understanding the importance of hard work and dedication.
Because of their love and sacrifice over the years. I have been able to devote the time and energy necessary to academic accomplishment even though money has always been tight my high school I graduated with a mean grade of A-(minus).
