Bio

Hi! My name is Claudia, I currently attend Los Angeles Valley College. I am an English Major and I hope to transfer to either UCLA or CSUN in the Fall of 2022. I love to read, write, draw, and travel. I have been working for an after school program since 2017. I also love driving, not just long drives, which is why I enjoy my second part-time job as a delivery-service driver to make some extra income.

My favorite superhero of all time is Batman, a DC (Detective Comics) character that is fairly popular. I still remember the excitement I felt before we went in the theatres to watch "The Dark Knight Rises". Twelve-year-old me could not fathom how amazingly Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer brought the character to life. It was a very hard year for me. I was in middle school and I never feared more than going out to nutrition and lunch wondering if anyone would even want to hang out with me. I could not even come home in peace. Even though I lived with nine other people in a three bedroom, one bathroom apartment, I felt more lonesome. For an entire year, I could have felt truly alone if it were not for my journal and my imagination. I filled several composition books with short stories and also kept a positive mindset by writing my own thoughts down to keep me motivated. Although I felt isolated and sad on the outside, I felt at peace on the inside. Even to this day as a twenty-two year old college student, Batman and all comic books are an exemplary inspiration not just for my writings but for who I am today. By my Junior year in high school, I founded and led my school's dance team. My role was to lead and inspire a team of dedicated students who wanted to contribute to their community as much as I did. We were a group of diverse students from different backgrounds, whether it was race, sexuality, gender, and anyone who might feel like an outsider to society. I realized the potential we all had to create bonds and pave the way for the next generations. After almost two years of leading a dance team as an introvert, I realized that what aspired me to step up as President of my school's dance team was because I pushed myself to be the best that I can be, to reach my full potential and to pass that on. Much of that inspiration came from none other than Batman. I believe storytelling is a form of art that can inspire generations to come just as it did for me. With the world feeling as scary as it does today, I hope my work as a writer will become the inspiration to someone out there to lead a better future, even if it helps just one lonesome person.
