    Once Upon a #BookTok Scholarship
A snapshot of my ultimate bookshelf, influenced by the dynamic realm of #BookTok recommendations, is a testament to the transformative power of literature in the digital age. The #BookTok community, a thriving enclave of bibliophiles and literary enthusiasts, has ushered in a new era of reading engagement, propelling certain titles into the limelight and forever altering the literary landscape. In the spotlight of my curated collection stands "The Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller, a mesmerizing retelling of ancient mythology. This novel, celebrated across #BookTok discussions, casts a spotlight on the complex relationship between Achilles and Patroclus. Its lyrical prose and evocative themes have ignited fervent conversations around LGBTQ+ representation in classic narratives. By giving voice to marginalized perspectives, it has become a rallying point for inclusive literature discussions within the #BookTok community. Positioned nearby is "Such a Fun Age" by Kiley Reid, a contemporary exploration of race, privilege, and personal dynamics. Reverberating through the #BookTok sphere, this novel has sparked nuanced conversations about societal inequalities and their reverberations in daily lives. As readers engage with its thought-provoking content, they've embarked on a collective journey of self-awareness, challenging perspectives, and advocating for change in real-world contexts. "They Both Die at the End" by Adam Silvera finds its rightful place, resonating with #BookTok audiences through its heartrending portrayal of mortality and friendship. The novel's intriguing premise, in a world where people receive notice of their imminent demise, has spurred contemplative exchanges on living life meaningfully. In a world increasingly preoccupied with time, this book has prompted the #BookTok community to reflect on the essence of existence and the importance of cherishing each moment. Diversity and representation are focal points on my bookshelf, with "Cemetery Boys" by Aiden Thomas exemplifying this commitment. This paranormal novel, which intertwines identity and cultural heritage, has been embraced by #BookTok for its inclusive storytelling. The book serves as an affirmation for LGBTQ+ and Latinx individuals, spotlighting their experiences and struggles. Through spirited conversations, the #BookTok community has championed the value of authentic representation and amplified marginalized voices. In the realm of fantasy, "A Court of Silver Flames" by Sarah J. Maas finds its enchanting place. The continuation of a beloved series, this book has forged a connection with #BookTok members by delving into themes of resilience, healing, and personal empowerment. Within the vibrant discussions, this work has emerged as a beacon for conversations surrounding mental health in fantasy literature, underscoring the genre's potential to explore complex emotional landscapes. In summation, my bookshelf, inspired by #BookTok's dynamic recommendations, stands as a tribute to the power of communal reading experiences in our digital era. Through a diverse selection of titles, this collection encapsulates the vibrancy of discussions within the #BookTok community. From reimagined myths to explorations of race, mortality, identity, and fantasy realms, these titles have not only enriched the literary world but have also fostered connections, empathy, and lasting impacts within a globally connected network of readers.

I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Even at a young age, I would sell candy, lemonade, old toys I didn't want anymore, and anything that would make me a little bit of money. As I got older, I realized my dream of owning a business by opening a landscaping company. I didn't know how to run the office side of the business, though, and it eventually failed. As it turns out, keeping the books and things organized is integral to the company. My father ran a few businesses when I was growing up, but he failed at each one he did. I got my entrepreneurial spirit from him, but it wasn't until I started landscaping when I was 17 that I found the drive to run my own business. My boss was very encouraging at the time and taught me everything I needed to know to provide good landscaping services to customers. He always encouraged me to better myself, learn more, and get licensure where required. I have kept in touch with him over the years, and he is the one who ultimately encouraged me to start my own landscaping company. Although the company failed due to bad management, I am thankful for his encouragement and inspiration to step out on my own. What is exciting about being an entrepreneur, more than the ability to make as little or as much money as I desire, is watching something go from undesirable to desirable in a matter of hours, days, or weeks. The constant challenge to create something beautiful is invigorating. I love to take something that may be ugly to most and turn it into something everyone would love to have. My desire to learn the necessary steps in running a successful business trumps my lack of continuous formal higher education. I have a reason to get the degree. I do not want to fail again in any venture I set out to do. Failure is not an option. I have dipped my toes in the water and have seen what running a business can do for my family and me. I do not look at my last business as a failure. I look at it as a lesson learned of what not to do. Now I need to know what should be done. I am pursuing a business degree to learn what I need to know to run a successful business when I venture out on my own again. I am not sure what company I want to start yet, but I want to do something that will better my community in a lasting way. Something that will impact people's lives positively. I want the company to last, and I can ensure that with a business degree. The company could provide jobs for many people from all walks of life and be a beacon of hope to many that a job could be more than a job. The company could create an atmosphere that encourages the desire to come to work and perform their best. I believe that the job force could benefit from a company that sincerely cares about its employees just as much as it does its customers. Overall, winning this scholarship will help me obtain the business degree to help me start a company with an excellent employee atmosphere that encourages positive development. It might be a newer idea, but happy employees create an environment conducive to satisfied customers.
