Bio

In the next 10 years, I plan to successfully start and sell a laundromat for a profit, begin phase two of my journey to own multiple businesses, and eventually build generational wealth for my future family. I know I have higher risk goals than what other entrepreneurship majors would think to do but, at the end of the day, my aspirations are simple to follow and practical. Religion plays a key role in my motivation to education and future career as my name being Christian is not a coincidence. I want my future kids to have a strong sense of financial security and community that was lacking in my upbringing so they can also achieve their goals without being demoralized. Thanks to the freedoms of the market economy combined with the credit system founded by this country, with my dedication to education, I know it is possible to turn my dream into reality.

I find the American experience to be something so unique and almost insane to think about. From the freedoms of the credit system established by this country which revolutionized business around the world, to the undeniable importance of the Bill of Rights in our day to day, to a merit based society which allows for those who may have never succeeded in other parts of the world to thrive in ours. This has a profound impact on how our lives operate as this foundation is simply that, a foundation, like a constitution. Being an American in my experience means I can do anything I want. It goes without saying that you can't really do everything like committing crime, but due to this not being in my nature, it doesn't fit into something I would like to do in the first place. I constantly theorize and fantasize about what I would like to do immediately after graduating because I will finally be prepared to start my life when I want to. I will no longer have to stay in one place, I could create a new identity, and being a business major, I have many potential careers to choose from. I'm only a sophomore but I already have a set plan of what to do with my entrepreneurship degree. I plan to take advantage of the credit system established by America's founding by applying for business loans to kickstart multiple businesses and I plan to use the property rights found in legislation passed in Congress and the Texan legislature to grow generational wealth for my future family. I also hope to be able to pay back my parents so that they can retire more comfortably as we make up the classic American story as well. Being a first generation student and immigrant, there are many barriers in my way, and insane amounts of opportunity by the same logic. Coming to a new country, though I was born in Dallas, America is still an eye-opening experience almost every day. Understanding how to network, being culturally aware, and meeting new kinds of people is fascinating to put in one way. I am always found in situation where I am enthusiastic to participate whether it be in school, friends, my relationship with God, or simply through exploring the internet. I hope that through this scholarship, I will be one step closer to reaching my American dream. Debt can be good, like in my case, my business loans will get to reach my dreams, but student loans will only hold me back realistically. I am therefore going to continue down the journey of my life enjoying the journey so that hopefully once I reach my destination, I can look back and be satisfied with what I accomplished.

For many, tuition is a factor but not something that is so distracting that it affects academic performance, this is the case for me. Work in many instances, has to take up a lot of precious time and all of this to pay for housing and tuition. Noticing these factors as a business major had profound effects on how I view the world. Being a first generation student and immigrant, many of the institutions found in higher education feel as though they were written in a completely different language. I remain diligent and I know I will never quit. With that being said, it doesn't negate that I still have challenges that are unique to people in my situation. I remember being in public school and any time I had any issues with my classes, schedule, or grades I could just go to my counselor or teacher and it would get fixed. Not to mention, I definitely did not have to worry about paying for any of my schooling from K-12. Higher education is a completely different story, with most of the responsibility falling exclusively on the student's own capability to succeed. Putting it simply, the real day to day will have completely different experiences depending on who you ask. In my case, higher education could be described as the best and worst part of my life so far. I absolutely love learning, I cannot imagine a world where we actually know everything and it's oddly comforting. That being said, the stress of balancing school, work, friends, family, goals, networking, expectations, makes it no surprise that there is a major problem among students with mental health. We all want to succeed and I know I have a good example through my parents as they moved to this country with only $300 in their pockets and managed to raise two kids, support two pets, themselves, pay for a house, cars, insurance, cell phone bills, and unexpected emergencies. This for many young people, seems almost impossible to cover more than two of the things listed above without generational wealth for which I have almost none. This is why I feel I deserve this scholarship as I want to change this for my family. The sooner I cover my expenses for higher education, the sooner I can go to the bank and apply for a loan as having debt of any kind will inhibit my ability to do so. As an entrepreneur major, I plan to cure this disease by starting businesses to create careers. This will hopefully make a positive change in the community that I move into after graduating.
